TL-S winter tires- experience, opinions, help
the fluffy white stuff is coming soon and my rims and tires dont want to meet it. time to put on the stock tl-s wheels with some winter rubber (1 of my stock tires has a bubble, so if i'm gonna spend money to replace one stock mxm4, i might as well get snows)
However, sizing seems to be an issue. all that is available (at tirerack.com) is:
215/50/17 = Blizzak WS50 @ $131
i was wondering if i could drop to a smaller size for more selection
205/50/17 = Blizzak LM22 @ $138
Dunlop Winter Sport M2 @ $118
Mich Pilot Alpine @ $132
Pirelli Winter 240 Snow Sport @ $138
1. Will the change in size cause problems? with speedo, safety, and how bad will the dry handleing suffer with a narrower tire (beyond the sacrifice of a winter tire)?
2. I always put four snow tires on my old accord, is 2 in the front practical? could it promote the back sliding out?
any experience with any of these, or other tires, on tl-s rims is highly appreciated as well as knowledge reguarding sizinf
thanks for any help, i need to remove my chrome wheels asap

If you want VERY good tires go for the Pilot Alpin!
The Pilot Alpin comes in 205/50R17
Comparing to the stock 215/50R17
The difference is very minimal:
Speedometer Difference: 1.554% too fast
Diameter Difference: 1.54%
Revs per Mile: 829.6 against 816.9
So there is NO problems at all!
Unless you want to kill yourself
Just kidding, seriously NEVER do that, if you don't have the money
you're better off with all 4 seasons tires then only 2 winter ones.
More, only 4 tires from the same brand should be used.

i figured the oversteer would be a serious issue
well i guess i'll either go with the blizzaks or the alpine sports b/c it is senseless for me to get new all seasons when i have summer tires mounted on separate wheels, and i refuse to buy another mxm4 to replace the bubbled tire.
anyone have the blizzaks, any reviews?
the alpines sound good but pricey
thanks for input

winter tires for our cars more it was the best one within your 4 options.
If you find Artic Pilot expensive you can always go for the Artic Alpin instead

...just ordered the pilot alpins...
If you ordered the Pilot Alpin is it because you bought 2 of each set....
Anyway at $570 i'm sure you went for the Artic Pilot, good choice from now
on they will become your first winter choice too!
Enjoy and remember whatever the winter conditions and the brand
of your tires the most important part is the weight of your right foot...

I am suitable happy with the Blizzak LM-22's I have. I bought them when I couldn't get the Pilot Alpin's. They have 2 seasons of miles on them.
I dropped down to 16" for the tires and got inexpensive alloy rims for them.
