TL-S tired help!

I busted one of my TL-S rim/tire last year but I went with aftermarket rims and tires for the summer.
Well the temperature is quickly dropping and it's time to get new tires. I'm NOT going back to the crappy stock tires. I have two choices I'm hoping you guys could help me out with.
Should I go with Ultra High Performance All Season tires for $460 or go with real Winter Tires for $638? I live in Jersey so we get a decent amount of snow every year, but at the same time I do have an MDX on hand for the bigger snow storms. What do you guys think I should do? Go with the more $$ for top of the line winter tires or go with all season and take my chances with the snow. $460 is a nicer number but $638 isn't out of reach either. Please give me your opinions. THANKS!

If you have a set of summer tires as well, then I would say go for the winter tires. However, if you plan on leaving these tires on throughout all seasons, then go for the all season ones.

Personally, I would prefer the winter tires because of the amount of grip you get. There's nothing like a great set of winter tires. You just gotta remember, they're only useful for about 5 months of the year.

I will be swapping out my summer tires/rims and the stock rims. These tires will go on in Nov/Dec through March/April.

yah then I would say spend the extra couple hundred bux and go for the winter tires. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Even if you decide to one day take your TL out, and it starts to blizzard, and you're gone for a couple hours, unfortunately your MDX can't come rescue you, you gotta drive home in the crappy weather. BTW what winter tires and all seasons are you considering? Different brands do make a difference.

-Continental ContiExtremeContacts are awesome all seasons
-Pilot Sports are great summer
-Kumho Ecsta or Supra 711 are amazing

what are you looking at?

I heared the Sumi's are an excellent tire, however there's two downsides to them.

1) They wear down very quickly, most ppl report no more then 25000 Miles on them

2) They become quite noisy after a couple thousand kilometers. Even though our stock tires suck in all conditions, I find the noise level hasn't increased even after putting like 10k miles on it.

I was looking at the BridgeStone Blizzak (winter tire) and the Continental XtremeContact (all season).

anyone else? My mom thinks I should get the all season because you never know how much snow there will be and with the all season I can leave them on a little longer to the spring to give my summer tires a little longer life and spread the life evenly. Good advise I think.

I would say go for the Winter tires. Your mom is right about the evening out the life of the tires, but the All Season may not do it for you during the winter. If you guys get a lot of snow, you gotta be prepared with a good tire. I've heard that bridgestone blizzak's are awesome tires, and very sticky. They stick well to ice.

Go for the winters!!!

Since you've a TL-S and two sets of rims, I would say get the stickiest summer tires for the summer, and the best snow tires if your winter is really bad or the best performance (speed rating) snow tires if your winter is mild.

I'm using 18" Michelin Pilot for the summer and 17" Pirelli winter for my mild winter and frequent ski trips. The Pirelli winter tires are H-rated and their performance is said to be very close to performace all season tires. However, if you have heavy snow fall all though the winter, the Bridgestone Blizzard tires are probably the best choice. With VSA, snow tires and no dropping, you can go anywhere in deep snow, second only to AWD/4WD vehicles.

During the winters, whenever I was riding on snow tires when the roads were dry, I wish I had changed back to summer tires. I even have a floor jack at home, so I can switch to snow tires at the very last moment before the ski season starts and back to summer tires whenever the roads are dry.

I think my problem is that you never know how much it's going to snow. I think I'm going to go with the All Season XtremeContact because when it does snow I drive my MDX. I want my tires to last more then 1 or 2 seasons. I've been hearing that soft winter tires go real fast if it doesn't snow and your running on dry ground.
Thanks for your help guys, but I think I'm going to go with mom on this one.
