Tire Suggestions?

Hi I have a 06 TL with stock rims 235/45R17. I was wondering what's a good tire for the rims. I currently have 4 continental DWS. So far they've been the best set I've had and the most durable. Any other suggestions on other tires or should I just stick with these again? I also live in NY where the roads are terrible.

I have the same question myself. I have the DWS's too and after 12,000 miles they are at 6/32nds. I don't think I will get another 12K out of them. I like the ride quality but I need something that will last longer. I had the Dunlop Sport Signature before that and they lasted much better but had to get rid of them around 30K miles due to a bad alignment. The inside of the tires wore down to the wire. The Dunlop had a harsh ride for my stock 06 TL but their handling in the curves was nice. They were also louder on the highway but not so much more that the DWS's. I'm looking at the Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus Grand Touring All-Season as my next tire but I'm always looking at this forum for suggestions and experiences.

Michelin Primacy MXM4's are amazing tires......put them on every Acura that comes in the shop and always great feed back....have them on my 02 Type S and my 06 TL. Great handling...quiet ride...smooth ride and great breaking.

Agreed! Picked up these tires about a month ago and I love them.

For a cheaper price, I recommend the nitto motivos they are warrantied for 60,000 miles and they performed super well for me and are quiet as well. But for pure performance go with the 970s!

I have the 970's as well and they are a great tire...though a little more expensive than others. I have to replace 2 now and may go with the Hankook Ventus S1 noble2 since they have good reviews as well, but are also a little cheaper. Anybody running with these tires?

BEST is subjective to what you want out of a tire.

my Dunlop direzza star spec Z1's SPANK the shit out of some potenza's.

it just depends on your needs and wants and budget.
I can afford to replace tires every year.

as each tire comes with a compromise, you'll need to figure out what your compromises are. no one can do that but you.

Man if your DWS didn't last long there is something wrong with your setup. They have a rating of 540 compared to other conti tires.

If you need to use all seasons then just get another set of DWS in 255/40 size. I just use the DW set on my stock rims for my TL but don't need all seasons. You already said they were the best set you ever had so why change? Hard to say that about tires.

I agree with Z1s (if they are even around anymore now Z2s) > RE11A which are > NT05's. Got a set of Z2s on my s2k but those are good for 12-14k max with no track days.

255/40 on a 17x8 curbed rims [I assume 3g stock tl rims the same except aspec?] (bought the car like that )

How is that possible? Did you take the measurements yourself from several areas on each tire? Something is definitely wrong.

I have 18K on my DWS' and they are at 8/32 on all 4...
