Tire Rack Wheels for 6MT

I just wanted to let you all know about my experience buying wheels through tirerack.com for my 6MT. I used their interactive wheel chooser to select my wheels. I of course indicated that I had an 04 6MT and saw that there were only 11 wheel choices for it. This is because of the Brembo brakes being difficult to clear the wheels. Well, I had decided to stick with 17 inch wheels and chose their TR Motorsports R5. Now before anyone starts screaming I should of went for 18's or 19's don't bother. I wanted 17's because the tires are more affordable and there are more ultra high performance all season choices for them. Anyway, I placed my order for the wheels mounted with Pirelli Nero Zero M+S tires and recieved them two days later.

I had to wait until the weekend to put them on the car, and when I did, THEY WOULDN'T CLEAR THE CALIPERS!!!! WHAT! :wtf: I promptly called Tire Rack while logging on to their website to double check that they offered those wheels for the 6MT. To my surprise R5 was no longer one of the wheels listed. Vinny from the Tire Rack said that another customer had reported a fitment problem with these wheels and the 6MT and that I would have to return them and select another wheel. I went with the Mille Miglia Action and the same tires and I should have them this week. Hopefully they will fit. I will keep you posted.

Moral of the story is don't alway believe those nifty interactive sites that show you products specifically for your car.

take a look at RonJon Wheels, We clear the caliper and the fender too. Hubcentric for a smooth perfect fit and a crisp design. I waS trying to get tire rack to look into our wheels but its almost impossible to get their purchasing manager on the phone.

Yep...they did pay for the return. However, they would not ship the other wheels until I had returned the first set. I have been screwing around with them for over a week now. The new set should be here today or tomorrow.

as of now, their wheel selection sucks. 12 choices, most looking the same.

Before I got my wheels(SSR Competitions), I spoke with Tire Rack to confirm that they'll fit. Tire Rack assured me that they "tested" the wheel I wanted on the 6MT and it would fit. I eventually ordered from a local wheel/tire shop instead of Tire Rack for a better price. Fortunately, the wheels did fit. So I had great communication from TireRack.

I understand your argument about the wheels remaining 17" in diameter, that's your own business.....but my question is why in all hell would you change the stock 17s? They look terrific, are Enkei, and are obvioulsly perfectly desingned for the TL. They even have the tire pressure monitoring system n everything.

Unless stock rims got messed up and you were looking for a cheaper replacement or something, or you wanted to have a winter set of tires, i don't see why you did this.
