Tire Prices in Toronto

I have been quoted $1380 all in Canadian installed, balanced etc. for 4 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 235/45/17 tires for my '04 TL. This seems to be about $50 a tire less than list and about $21 a tire less than the internet quote from Active Green and Ross. I am considering ordering them from an Active Green and Ross dealer who has really given me good service and done me a couple of favours in the past. I just want to make sure that this price is in the ballpark. I would appreciate any input from Toronto TLers who have recently purchased these tires.

try consumer tires at woodbine/14th. They have the best prices around. Good install service too

Thanks for the tip. I dealt with Peter and I had the tires installed yesterday for $70 less than I was quoted by Active Green and Ross.

I love the the tires. I had them out today in the pouring rain and it felt like the car was glued to the road. They are quieter and the ride is much improved. Acura is getting the EL42s back at the end of the lease.

I screwed up when I bought the car in January. I was really expecting to buy the G35 Coupe so I had been on the G35 forums. At the last minute I test drove the TL and found the seats much more comfortable, the gauges easier to read, the stereo much better and the navi system better and decided to buy it. I didn't know about the tire problems. I found out about them before I took delivery and the dealer wouldn't give me a nickel for the tires on a trade (I believe the speaks volumes about the tires). So I have put on the Michelins and Acura will get the original tires back when my lease ends.

Were you experiencing problems with the tires? I have an early build TL and have had mine replaced with new OEM Bridgestones, they look the same, but they are not. There was a significant improvement in terms of ride quality, and flatspotting tendancies. When you look at the attrbutes of these tires, based on tested results by Honda Engineering, they certainly look like they perform well, even against the Pilots.

Peters

I just didn't like the tires in the rain. I don't know if I got the new or the old as my tires were manufactured in the 3rd week of 2004. I decided to get the Pilots and I am glad I did. I almost always have to buy new tires very near the end of my four year leases. This time I bought them early and Acura can have the tires back at the end of the lease.
