Tire guage

What kind of tire guage do you use to measure your tire pressure? Digital or Analog?

I'm currently using a analog one that looks like a pen. Will a digital one be more accurate?

I have the SmarTire Tire Pressure Monitoring system that takes care of that. However, when I take a manual pressure read I use a digital gauge.

I used a "pen" type for many years, but have used a digital for the last 10 years. I think they are far more accurate, but a little slower to use.

I have a digital and the only problem that I have is that it is sometimes
difficult to press the business end against the value and get the rascal
to "fire" .

I have both. Both seem accurate. The digital works ok but takes more time to get a good reading and doesn't really appear to be any more accurate than the cheapo pen type of gauges I have. Use whatever you like best. The most important thing is to check your pressures at least once a month. More often if you experience large swings in temperatures. The tire will lose about 1.5 psi for every 10 degrees of temperature change. So if it goes from 80 out down to 30 out (like it often does in Ohio) your tires will have about 6 or 7 psi less in them at 30 than they did at 80. Also always check the tire pressure when the tires are cold (before driving). Never bleed down tires that are hot.

so what do you do if 5 analogs and 5 digitals all read differently?

choose one that you like to use and stick with it, just make sure it's within +- 2lbs

or have some fun, get one for each tire
