Tein SS Clunk ?

Just installed my Tein SS, and now when I go over a sharp bump or dip on the road theres a clunk from my rear dampers... Other than that, they ride perfect, just gets kind of annoying..... Anyone else have this prob?

Yes, I have that and it is a very common problem for the coilovers. You just have to deal with it. They should be renamed the Tein SS Clunkers. I took apart my rear twice because of this and everything was good with my install, then I did a search on Google and found that it's very common for the Tein's. Not only in the TL but a lot of other cars. Do a search on google for yourself. "Tein SS clunking"

Go to Radio Shack or an Advanced Auto and buy this coil type of wire wrap. Its a really thick plastic that you can use to wrap around the bottom coils of the springs(closest to the adjustable perch). That should fix your clunk issue. I have used this solution on all the cars I have run coilovers on in the past and it works flawlessly. It's caused by the rear coming up and the spring coming up from the perch and then slamming back down.

You guys need to check your rear sway bar links for tightness. That is the most common issue. Other than that you need to make sure everything was installed correctly.

The spring isolators will not do anything. You don't need them.

And it is still up and people are still emailing me about Teins and how to fix the "clunk problem."

Or asking for spring isolators, etc.

Even though these threads are old, people still use them for reference. IMO they all should be BALEETED!

Are you able to find an aftermarket replacement for the TL End Links?

I can make some, but they are not needed. Think people would buy them?

The problem is people have not tightened enough, not that the links are bad.

Even under full compression, the shocks would bottom out before the spring coils came in contact.

Spring isolators are only used on progressive springs where some coils are softer than others and they do come in contact before the spring is fully compressed. Teins come with linear springs so installing isolators will not do any good.

They might clang, or twang, or maybe even sqeak from rubbing in the seats...but clunking, even if unseated, is not a spring sound. In the end, ANY sound from the suspension is 99% sure due to improper installation. A clunk happens when a part has play from being loose and knocks around.
