They ride stiffer than OE- by taking the little ripples in the road and just making a quick thump out of it, faster response time of the shocks is a way to describe it

For $200 more, many are very happy to have to adjustment of the SS , where you can soften or tighten each to effect handling and ride comfort

Check in the Off Topic link on this page- then click Sponsored Sales,
MrHeelToe and Excelerate both are authorized TEIN dealers- thats important

The Basics are firmer than stock but not stiff or jarring. As 01tl4tl said, if you get the SS you can adjust damping, how soft or firm the ride is basically.

People who buy the basic often wonder why they thought saving a few bucks was that important
Someday you may even want the edfc!

basics are good enough... ss + edfc will cost $$$. probably twice what the basics will.... i had basics, 9k on them, never a problem.. sure the ride was stiff and the car was low... but if you can drive a dropped car properly, u shouldnt have any problems.

the main reason i didnt get the SS, was the EDFC will not fit on our stock front tower brace bar. some people cut a hole in it, some people remove it. Me personally? i didnt want to mess with the bar, as that can comprise the cars cornering.

so if you get the SS w/o the EDFC, its almost impossible to just adjust the rear. u have to remove the entire seat every time...

IMO, the best route if you want SS + EDFC, is to install the EDFC on the rear only, and manually adjust the front. seems safer in my opinion

i also suggest since you're gonna lower it, get a camber kit and have enough to get an alignment done...if you're gonna do it, do it right, don't cut corners...cutting corners in the end will only cost you more money

The 3g tower bar that fits with edfc is under construction at MrHeelToe- it will replace the OE bar and have all the proper clips and stuff- plus the edfc will fit!

for those guessing what things cost and saying its twice as much for yada yada- do your homework, its not true!

I am running on TEIN Basics and I have had them for 2.5yrs with no problems with them. I am happy with them and for daily driving it is perfect. No need to spend the extra$$$ unless you are planning to track your TL. Save that extra $$$ for alignment and other little goodies for your TL. Enjoy!!!!

It also depends on your personal driving style and if a spouse also drives the car.
I say spouse because I am guessing no one here would let a kid loose in their beloved!

The basics are good- no doubt, there are named appropriatly, and then there is a step up to a whole different world with SS
Its like coming from a beater car into a TL...the differance is noticable for those who care

Agree that camber kits rock for those with expensive tires, aggressive drops (over 2 inch) and track day enthusiast
Everyone should do a track day approx $250, for the skills you learn from a Pro race driver riding in your passenger seat- The instructors are there for free (they earn testing day time for the race car) and really like sharing some tricks with you
You are not thrown on track with a bunch of racers, its controlled and very safe compared to driving on the street.
First timers always run single file, lower speed, usually 10-15 seconds behind the next guy- no off track excursions allowed, you wont even get the tires to squeal...
Until you get approved to move to the next run group of faster drivers, then the next with the guys who are having seriuos fun

In closing do whatever it takes and get the SS, then the new bar, and the edfc, there is nothing like having 3 buttons that change the shocks for you- wife, freeway and track are examples

well, i do recommend the camber kit too. uneven tire wear is a CERTAIN, if your dropped semi-aggressive ( >1.5")

search internet for scca or nasa pro racing and you will get linked to local race tracks- they are everywhere and offer track days-

even circle track is excellent training, constant on and off throttle and brakes - always entering apexing and exiting a corner

then you really appreciate being able to set the shock rebound/dampening
