Switched From Michelin to Avon Tech
Just recently switched from 17" Michelin Pilot Sport A/s to 18" Avon Tech M550 A/S. The Avon Tech seems to have a more firm ride as compared to the Michelin which could be described as more of a cushion ride. I think I've become use to the cushion feel and i haven't yet firmed an opinion as to how well I like the Avon tires? Does the firmness subside? Or is it a matter of individual taste? Back when I purchased the Michelins, it was a trade from the Pirelli PZero Nero which i felt was way too much of a firm ride for me. I've only put maybe 100 miles on the Avon tires.

Going from a 17 inch tire to an 18 inch is going to make much more difference in the ride then tire brand/types!
You would have to compare both 17 inch tires.
No way i would put 18's on my TL, there is not a lot of tire to protect the rim
even with the 17's.
I like a more comfortable ride anyway, if I wanted an all out sports car
I would have bought something else.
Big rims (if light weight) are good for the track, where they dont have pot holes.
