Sway Bar Questions

I'm pretty set on upgrading both sway bars and already know which ones im getting buttt before that....

1: The RSB looks simple enough...Has anyone installed the FSB? it looks a little more challenging..was it easy?

2: I see people talking about adjusting sway bars from stiff or soft. How do you adjust sway bars?

3: Do you have to replace the two bushings that hold the sway bar if you get a bigger one?

4: What does it mean when the car is "tail happy"?

That's all I can think of right now..Thanks in advance!

FSB is simple... just like 6 nuts u needa take off
stiffness.. some swaybars have different holes on the ends of bars to change "settings"
tail happy = oversteer

I remember reading somewhere on here that putting on a rear sway bar and a front sway bar doesn't do anything to the car. I remember reading that to have the greatest affect, just install a rear sway bar and you're good. I read it a long time ago so I'm missing some details, but that's basically it.

OOOOO NAY NAY my friend....maybe on the tl-s or 6mt....they have good size fsb's (27mm) and stiffer springs. so in that case a rsb is all ud need i guess

But my friend, i have a 5at w/ softer springs and smaller swaybars...i put coils on and i when i get on it in turns, i feel my coils are helping more then the stock sway bars should.

So if i were to get a bigger rsb...my balance would be terrible and i believe a stiffer rsb then ur fsb would increase oversteer. and a stiffer fsb would increase understeer. So if i upgrade the rear i need to balance it with a front

Whoa there Kimosabe. I think you're talking about the Strut Brace at the top of the engine.

The Front Sway Bar is a good bit more difficult as you have to drop the front sub-frame to remove and replace it.

RSB is fairly easy - everything is easily accessible.

Adjustment stiff to soft is easy. There are two holes at each end of the bar where it bolts up to the End Links. If you use the very end holes, the bar is longer and therefore softer. If you use the inner holes, the bar is shorter and therefore stiffer.

New bushings come with the Sway Bar (with the Progress RSB anyhow). Use those. They also come with grease (white lithium grease, I think) to grease the insides of the bushings.

"Tail Happy" means loose - the back end wants to swing out in front of you. It's worst if you abruptly lift off the throtte mid-turn.

dont even bother doing the front sway bar without a lift and air tools...you may likely never finish because of the difficulty. rear sway bar on the other hand is cake, 30 min.

I found another screw up from the supposed repair shop that did my subframe. All that tire and road noise I've been complaining about may not have been the tire's fault. When I dropped the subframe, the passenger side is metal to metal, the rubber bushing was not put back in. That's the last time they screw me, I'm taking every legal action possible.

I reluctantly put it back together with no upper subframe bushing but I was scared to take it to the limit knowing it's not right even though it's been that way for months now.

The car has pretty much zero body roll. I mean, it has some if you really swerve back and forth hard but you would never feel any roll in normal hard driving. It's so much more responsive, I had to get used to the aggressiveness of the wheel. If feels like someone put a quicker ratio rack in there. I'm half asleep and completely exhausted so I'll have a better review tomorrow. Got to get up in 4 hours.

^mannnnn..So lame. I can’t give in to a mechanic shop yet. i have all the tools and can use a lift whenever I want...this is my first car that I’m moding so far it’s all been my hands on it. Bottom line is i WILL get a fsb and a rsb for my next mods. You know what I need to do is get a quote on this then laugh my ass off at the price...Then I’ll do it myself...

where's mpk,ca? is that close to san diego?

ooo stop ittt...

naa ur right though...im doin it. yall hear me?? IM DOIN IT!!

Ight then I know what RSB im getting...now last question..

Should i get the Type-S or the 6MT FSB???

They're both the same size but the Type-S is soild and the 6MT is hallow...its obvious the weight advantage is in the 6MT..but why would Acura do that? you think it'd be the other way around right??

I thought I would post a small change I reluctantly made. I've been having a knocking noise which was the front end links. When I got around to installing the new one I saw that the nut had backed partially out on one side on the bar end. The hole in the swaybar was just slightly enlarged. Not wanting to take a chance I put the front bar in the firm position holes.. Noise is gone. Turn-in feels a little better. Haven't taken it to the limit yet because I've had too much junk in the car. It definitely feels tight. I'm expecting understeer but who knows. I might drill the Progress rear bar to make it 1.5" shorter to stiffen it up if needed.
