Look for Forged Wheels compared to a cast wheel. Forged offers better strength and due to its manufacturing process, usually allows manufacturers to make "thinner" wheels (just utilize less material cuz strength is inherent from the forging process) Hope this is somewhat touching on the information you were looking for. Do you get better MPG with lightweight wheels ? there must be some difference since the wheel wheighs less thus taking less energy to make it turn.
