Stupid parts replacement question

So after browsing the forum it looks like most of you guys are lowering, and or coilover-ing, etc. That's cool, I just don't want to go there on this car.

I am simply looking for a good OE replacement. I have noticed a little slop going over bumps that wasn't there before.

Car is an 07 Type-S. Bone stock except for ~200lbs of stereo equipment in the trunk so I don't know if I need a stiffer shock, spring or both. I'm pretty sure the extra weight over time has worn the stock stuff. Plus the car has ~125k on it.

I don't want to compromise ride quality at all. I don't particularly want to drop the car, but if it drops a little it won't bother me.

Also, do shocks and springs need to be replaced at the same time?

In my GTO I got some 5/16" raise drag springs and beefier shocks and that worked like a champ. (It also had balls for rear suspension to start...I mean it was awful.) It pretty got me back to stock ride height and stiffness when the stereo weight was in there. (it was also less weight than is this car)

So... suggestions?

Thx!

front - a-spec suspension (OEM) 3/4inch lower than oem.
rear - type S MT suspension (OEM) oem height. the 200lbs will lower the car to level. i guess?

no compromise in ride quality

I mainly did that so i don't dig the ground coming out of corner and for towing tongue weight of around 200lbs

it's easiest to just change out the whole shock+spring assembly than taking them apart,, if you're DIYer..

please don't go coilovers for "lowering" or "height" -__- that's so dumb imo. OPINION.
coilovers are for performance and meant to be overhauled every year if not twice a year.
add corner weight balancing too

^pretty good suggestion.
the aspec spring/shock combo came from the factory as an option.
this route would provide you with a factory drop(less than an inch) and handling improvement.

I chose to go with koni yellow shocks with aspec springs.
(p.s. 4doorvipers suggestion of coilover over haul and 4corner balancing is overkill)

Thx for the input guys. Best place to get them? Dealer or online OE parts supplier type place?

Also, the more I'm reading I'm thinking H&R sports plus Koni Yellows might be fun. Dammit. This is why I try to avoid the mods portion of this forum.

I would try our vendors here first.
PM Bruce (ackTL05)
then try oemacuraparts.com
acuraoemparts.com
might even find them on ebay from a dealer.

lolyes

front right A spec : 08W60-SEP-2M0E1
front left A spec : 08W60-SEP-2M0F1
whole car a spec(in case you're interested) : 08W60-SEP-202A

rear shock assy for 6MT type s(same left & right, need 2) : 52610-SEP-A18

just go to one of those sites justn mentioned and put in your car, and look under "a spec suspension" or "front shock absorber" or "rear shock absorber"

the reason i chose 6MT rear suspension is,,, because
COMPARED TO non-type S,
5AT type S is 14% stiffer
6MT type S is 30% stiffer in the rear.

i probably shouldn't tell you this since the front A specs are running low on stock and discontinued i'm getting myself a set for spare

so the H&R/Koni setup would just be overkill for what I want to do?

not at all.

H&R springs provide a little more drop than just the aspec springs.

store.excelerate.com has the h&R sport spring specs. gives you how many inches it drops.

hmmm maybe i won't need to stock up the A specs after all...

btw. for OP, if the height "leveling" is alll you want,,,

might as well try this..
the "buffer" "vibration arrestor" function is BS but i have friends with lots of audio in the trunk and just stick those up in the rear to make the car sit level.

type D fits our rear suspension.

Wheel Shock Absorber Buffer Vibration Arrestor 2pcs Motor Car TTC Urethane | eBay

type D fits our rear suspension.
More concerned with what the weight will do to longevity/performance of what I put in than looks. The looks are really secondary. Just want something a little heavier duty because of the continually increased load.

Ah in that case.... I was going to use that urethane spacer for towing lol.

Koni and OEM height springs work? Anyone?
