It's great and is the top of the line model from tein for our cars. Comes with top hats for plug and play. And has every adjustment you want including height, dampening, AND preload. Do it

Those are all too subjective. It rides great but not OEM. All the adjustments I mentioned allow you to tailor fit the ride tk what you like. That's why this is such a good set. Because of the preload adjustment which most don't have

It's a little bouncy on the softest settings but I ride mine stiff. Plus I have the EDFC active kit so my dampening level is continuously changing based on my speed and acceleration

No one knows the spring rates for our cars, but it's probably somewhere around 6F/3R. A lot of the springs out there come 12F/6R, which is effectively double the stock rates, so it's something you need to be aware of before you buy. And while it's true that you can under-damp them in order to get a softer ride, just like sockr1 said, it can get bouncy.

I purchased the BC Racing's and they came 12F/6R, and it's too harsh for me. My rep was really cool and got me 10F/4R, which I will install this Spring.

If one of your hot buttons is to preserve the ride quality of the car while dropping it, certainly look into the BC Racing's and specify 10/4. You may be able to do that with the Tein's as well. I have nothing bad to say about Tein, I just prefer BC Racing.

All the aftermarket coil-overs are firmer than stock, so you're good there!

Have you considered H&R coilovers? I believe the monotubes on this coilover are based on Bilstiens and have a progressive spring rate. Or maybe even KW?

I would agree with Andrew (Visual Echos) and push for the BC's especially if you are looking for a firmer ride - BC is the way. Tein (while not bashing them for quality, definitely ride softer...), but as mentioned above the Flex will give you a good range of adjustments.

Some light reading: Although not new there's plenty of good info here.

Autocross to Win (DGs Autocross Secrets) - Buying Shocks

I am running ASPEC (got them before they disappeared) and love them, great improvement for my daily.

Great info there, are any of the BCs, Teins, etc... actually rebuildable? I also used to be an engineer on a racing team and am familiar with shocks.

teins are rebuildable. they're coming out with a new street flex version that has completely interchangeable damper body so there's no down time (basically order them and switch them over)...but no eta for this model coming for our cars (just normal street flex where you can send in the entire assembly to get rebuilt).

the street flex is a great coilover and i love mine

It would be interesting to see if I could get other 2.5" shims and what not to fit. Penske shims are so cheap...

Penske's are so expensive! I wish Fortune Auto had a 3G TL coilover model, I would be all over those.

ok so been driving around adjusting the street flex for the last 2 days,
quite disappointed! this thing is way too soft, car feel heavier, made my car feel like driving a van
for those who looking for performance coilover, you will be disappointed with the street flex
btw im on the max setting for stiffness with spring preload about 10mm
gotta admit one thing, absorb bumps very well just not very good in performance wise and if your car is slam (which mine is not) you will scrape and hit everything

Something may be wrong with your preload because mine handles amazing and I'm lowered and don't bounce like you do. I take corners very fast and I'm very planted.

What's your measurement from the bottom of the spring perch to the hub bolt? also did you turn the dampener the right direction for stiffness?

I doubt you got a bad batch TEIN has a very rigorous and standardized releasing process so their Quality dept. would catch stuff like this before putting them out to the public.

I don't think the install is wrong I just think you have your preload wrong. If you followed the instructions, TEIN said that would give you 2mm of preload in the front and 1mm in the back. Even heeltoe said they would do at max 8 mm of preload. So I think that's your problem

I've talked to a few people that have this coilover and they all handle like a dream like mine do. They are the best tein offers for our car and I love them.

You are for sure welcome to ride in my car. PM me where you're at and maybe we can meet up soon. There's a San Diego chapter meet for TL cars coming up on April 9th where you can try more cars too
