Post Stock offset?

What is the stock offset for the 2001 TL? I am looking for wheels and I "heard" that if I go to far off the stock offset it will damage the bearings. Is this true?

55 and I belived that info is incorrect, several have 18's with a 42 to 48 offset. The offset if too low will cause the tires to rub on the inside of the fenderwell...
