Steering rack?

Hey guys i was just wondering id our cars are able to have their steering rack changed out. I draw this sudden curiosity from my dads car haha the e46 m3 had a competition package option on the car and that meant a tighter steering rack and after driving that car(has the comp package, and im sure the stock m3 already has a tighter rack) i only recently noticed just how unresponsive the steering is on the the TL in comparison. I know the TL isnt a race car but more responsive steering isnt to much to ask is it? I know you can put sway bars, and all that shtuff but i am wondering just about the steering rack. Thanks guys!

we have upgraded the base rack with the type-s rack but recently found out that there isnt any performance gains from it.
the tighter steering comes from replacing a worn out rack with a newer rack, not from switching to a type-s

so then what ways would there be to really increase the responsiveness of steering from a our cars? Id be willing to invest in something if it was proven to work

just by replacing the rack; your steering will be improved. thats if your current one is worn out.

there is however the type-s power steering pump.
