Advantages-Looks

Disadvantages- Limited tire rotation ability

people on zine are both ways, some are for it, cuz it looks nice. Others will despise it because they will say "TL is not a RWD" something of that sort

I say if you like it, go for it

Advantage: Looks
Disadvantage(s): No option to rotate tires; Loss of performance due to having larger diameter tires on the rear axle which does not drive the car.

basically just for looks.. some people consider it "poser"-ish since going staggered is really for RWD cuz you wouldnt put wider rims in front...

if you like it, do it..who cares i think it looks sick.

Advantage: Looks, Looks, Looks..

Disadvantage: I guess the limited rotation..

It may hurt performance(speed wise), but you bought a TL.. If you wanted a car that is fast, should of bought a corvette, or a porsche.. The TL is more of a luxury sedan.. Staggered wheels belong on it.. Looks perfect!!

What everyone said, but again... do what you feel. I think the performance loss would pretty much go unnoticed. I'm going under the assumption that you are not going to drive your car to its limit on every corner you come across.

I just went with the staggered lip instead.

if u like the look then go for it. the rear wheels will be heavier cus they are wider which will be some performance loss.

ppl on this forum have fit 20x10's on the back with no rubbing but u need to get the fenders rolled and make sure to get the right offset.

I used to think staggered was dumb on a FWD,until I threw on my staggered zenetti's.besides the nice lip they fill up the rear gap very well.
I'm running 19' with a +32 +38 offset 8.5 & 9.5 and no rolling or rubbing. like everyone else stated it's basically about preference........

what i don't understand is when you guys say that the rears will be heavier b/c they are wider..please someone explain..

so a regular 18" wheel Vs a 18" staggered with the same tire will have different width????????????

i am so confused...

8.5 front is gonna be lighter than let's say 9.5 in the rear due to the fact there is 1' more rim. more rim=more material=more weight. The whole idea of staggered is a wider rim in the rear which is why some don't like it on a FWD car......

I think he thinks you get all the same wheels and just put like a spacer or something in the rear to offset the wheel further out...

Staggered wheels are having like a 8.5" wide rim up front and a 9.5" wide rim in back.

Most of the posts here are... "fundamentally wrong". Rubbing is introduced with a poor offset/tire selectio. As noted, you can run a 10" wheel in the back, but you CAN't run a 295 tire on it... Search is your friend for proper offset/wheel/tire sizing.

In summary...

Advantages = Aestetic appearance, if you think it look "hawt" to have a poseur RWD look.

Disadvantages =

No ability to rotate tires, have fun replacing your tires every 10K miles

Handling is slightly impaired in that the wider tire gives extra grip in the back wher eit's NOT needed, introducing more understeer... which is compounded by the addition of the large Progress RSB, which I bet you "plan to do as well".

Your car, your money... but it looks "false" in my opinion.
