Staggered or not staggered?

Maybe I should call your paint job ricey. That's definitely not helping your performance.
To each his/her own.
To each his/her own.
A paint job does not change the perception of performance, nor does it intend to. (and it doesn't hurt it either) That's like saying tinting your windows doesn't help performance. Staggering on the other hand, serves a functional use. Which in a FWD setup is counter-productive, and if it isn't subtle, will make you look like an idiot, which is why I lumped it into the previous definition, which you don't agree with. Fair enough... But that's not the same as a paint job.
I could care less what you do with your car. You can paint it white with yellow polka dots for all I care. As long as YOU like it, that's all that matters.

Fair enough. What do you think is the "current" definition then?
Since when is a paint job supposed to or meant to increase actual or perceived performance? Now if I painted a giant "Type-R" maybe...

I think you're one of the few that is giving staggered setup on a FWD car so much negative attention. Okay, it isn't functional. I get it. Technically, neither is slamming a car in the NorthEast. Thats completely unfunctional, given the roads and weather, so is it ricey?
I just think you have your definition confused.
I wouldn't say rice and dysfunctional are one in the same.
But in the end, yes, as long as you like it that's all the matters.

Since when is running a staggered setup considered rice? That just doesnt even begin to make sense Go tell the "form>function" guys that what they do is rice..watch how fast you get flamed Running a staggered setup is nothing over the top really. Functional on a FWD? of course not, but thats not what its meant to be anymore. Running staggered in the modding world is meant more for aesthetics, no one is putting their cars on the track here.
Go to Stancenation.com and explain to them how they are supporting the "RICE" scene because they feature and glorify alot of those FWD staggered cars.

I would do with staggered wheels if you are just modding your car for aesthetic purposes, as many of us do, simply because we do not take our cars to the track every day and ripping every single corner is not a part of our daily driving habits. With that said a slight increase in understeer wont even be noticeable if you do not push your car to the limit. Making your car look nice doesn't always comply with making it perform better.
I don't get why everyone is getting so worked up about staggered being rice. Making your car look nicer with a better stance is not rice. Making your car look obnoxious with an a numerous amounts of accessories would be more defined as rice. Like those civics with their gigantic spoilers and their raspy ass exhaust.

i love my staggered set up!
but im in it more for the looks i get on the road versus track time since i dont track
i could care less what everyone wants or doesnt want on there car thats why it's your car have fun with it and do what you think looks best be it functionality or for the drool effect

Lol one of the guys on the forum whose TL i look up to. His car reminds me that this TL will be well worth it once the wrench time is put into it!

i am torn between function and form, but i will admit i lean more towards the function when it comes to mods. That being said, someone mentioned having the same width wheels but with slightly different offsets to get rid of the "sunken in" look and make them more flush, i just wonder what setup would best give the "illusion" of slightly staggered look? Don't mean to hi-jack OP just thought the question was relevant enough

I was considering going staggered.
19"x8.5" front wheels with 245/35/19 tires.
19"x9.5" rear wheels with 275/30/19 tires.
I was told by people on AZ that did staggered and suggested to NOT do it.
I will just do the same all around. Better handling, able to rotate.
245/35/19' tires with 19"x8.5" wheels with a +35 offset. Like I did before.
And lowering 1.75" F & R with Tein SS coilovers.

Awesome! thanks for those specs, hopefully they apply to the TL as much as they do your TSX, I think those second gen's are pretty damn close to the 3RD gen TL's in dimensions.

Get the man pedal in your next car!
I will never ever opt out of the man pedal again. Until I either a) lose a leg or b) the world stops making manuals. hope that neither of those happen, ever. Lol.
