Exclamation Spotted TL finally...spinners

Well yesterday saw an ABP TL-S on Broadway and Prince with spinners....although they weren't the real spinners (just an attachment), it looked pretty good in my opinion. At first I thought it was smoothnyc but I remember he had a navi and this one didn't.

Anyone on here?

I saw some spinners when I was shopping for my car, besides the fact they cost more than a supercharger, my TL-s would not look right in a rap video

My jaw doesnt drop. I look at it as an oddity, give it all of 3 seconds glance and shrug my shoulders and say
"big deal, i guess if you are Shaq, spending $6000 on rims is like me buying a pack of gum at the store. But iff that guy isnt a sports pro, or a drug dealer, what would have compelled him to waste THAT much money just for wheels? Does he really need to get attention that badly?"

Well, anyway, thats what I think of when I've seen a car (its usually a pimped out Caddy Escalade) with those rims.

Here We Go Again

Well, I agree and disagree.

I don't want spinners, I think they only look so-so, but I wouldn’t tell others not to buy or say they're a waste of money, although I agree it seems a little juvenile. Let people spend "their" money on what "they" want.

This is a great Country. We're allowed express ourselves how we want.

With that said, some people do need all that attention, some express themselves with fancy lights and others with Sprewell Spinners while others still just want a car that’s super clean.

errrrrrrrr....did you mean to say -- if they put them on the right CAR?

As far as the previous statement above about letting people spend the money where they want, I have no problem with it. I was just adding my 2 cents that there has to be a top end limit that any item is really worth above which its a waste. every item has a price, some things being worth more than others. Like a pack of gum for example, I think its safe to say that no pack of gum, no matter how good the stuff is, would be worth paying $75 for. The same rule of thumb applies to rims and everything else. would you pay $1000 for a shift knob? So to me, the $6000-$10,000 that they get for those 'spinning' rims is out of the ball park. Think of just how many Really nice wheel sets there are out there for way less. And whats they 'spinners' have to offer over them? Not a better wheel, just some silly inner ring that keeps going when you stop. Doesnt do anything for better performance, and I dont think it even does anything for better aethestics. Its just to make people take a double take. IS that worth $6-10K? I dont think so. Plus, it gets old quick, just like those damn silly BLUE WASHER SPRAY NOZZLES that every toyota, mid 90's accord, and older supras have. At least THOSE only cost $20! (BTW, in NY they are illegal because it is not lawful for any non-emergency vehicle to have blue lights.)

I was just adding my 2 cents only cost
I need to ask myself, is it my place to say to someone else the're wasting thier money? Not unless they ask. No matter how much they spend.

Given your expample, if someone likes that pack of gum and they pay $75 for it, It would seem they could afford it, I wouldn't make that purshase and for me it would be a waste of money.

On another, note, I must say I appreciate your response it was very appropreate, and again I do agree with you. But one thing I realized a long time ago, that there is a lot of money out there. A lot of people near where I live make millions of dallors per year, with that kind of money, you can only spend some much before someone thinks it's a waste.

i've seen spinners on the new benz C230 Kompressor Coupe, and it just doesn't look right IMO....when i saw them on the big body benz S430 it seemed a little more proportional. I think they only fit right on trucks, but thats just my .2 cents...regardless they are head turners and right now the most outrageous thing to do to your rims since color matching them to your paint lol

Now there is a perfect case in point -- spending that kind of money on wheels for the cheapest model Benz! How about spending that same money so you could buy the next model up?

Not only doesnt it look right, but the math doesnt add up either!

The spinners are an intersting addition to car. When I first saw them about 3 years ago, I thought it was a "neat" thing to have. But I'm all about economics. The "spinner kit" that you can add to certain aftermarket wheels are like $1200. If you buy the all inclusive spinner wheels, they are $6K-$10K depending on size.

Bottom line?

Monthly payment of $475
$475 x 13 = $6175
So 13 months worth of car payments. Wow!
Or, appx 2 superchargers, appx 8 body kits, you get the drift.

To each is own. Me personally, the wheels look nice, but it's not my style. One more thing for the cops to key in on. Plus, the maintenance on those must be unreal. Here in Minnesota, there is so much dirt and crap on the road, I think the bearings on the spinners would straight lock up!

Bottom line, we all express ourselves in many ways, this is just one of those ways. Not right or wrong, just an expression.

ok listen.... spinners are amazing. If you have the money to buy a sick car.. you need to invest on some good rims. They are specifically made to make people look. I think it was funk flex who said that you can compar a car to clothes. You have the outfit but do you have the fresh new pair of ups(for poeple that dont know thats the only sneaker to wear) Its all about the accessories. Like systems. Some poeple only make it loud when they see kids or other people around just to show off that they have the money to buy it. Honestly i have a system and i love the thing. Ive had it for 2 years and it has to be on full blast the the bass so high that you cant see out the mirror. Just becasue I love the way it sounds. Not to try and look cool. And im just going on about nothing.. Im going to pass out... 1

does anyone have the attachment spinners? I wanted to know how much they were. They deffinatly are the latest thing since matching the car and rims-thats what my brother has on his 03 tiburon-white with white. The truth really is that if you wanna turn heads, you just have to be spinning. If the attachemtns arent to much, i would deffinatly do it especially since you can just take um right off/

I wouldn't put spinners on my TL unless I was paid and all windows, including windshield were tinted and I only got in and out of my car in complete darkness with no one else around.
