Split/Crack in tire, thoughts?
So I know I am soon in need of some new tires, based on the inside wear on all tires, but today after work I came out to my car and noticed this.
These are Pirelli Pzero Nero M&S with around 40k miles.
I was hoping to last the rest of this season until i throw the winters on, then replace in the spring, but this new find was making me think tomorrow may be the day for new tires. Just thought I would get some input. I know sidewall issues are a big must for replacement, but this is a new one for me. If i can wait i would love to, but i in no way want to risk it if there is a chance of catastrophic failure.
Thanks for the input

On my way home from work I was imagining all kinds of horrible situations if that split open...one of them ended in me flipping over and over again on the freeway until i was hit head on by a semi coming at me from the opposite direction. So glad that didnt happen

No. Called around and no one close has either tire I am looking for(DWS or Pzero Nero All Seasons) in the size I need and will need to order, so, I will drive slow on it today and park it till next week when I can get it swapped out.

I had some Pirellis split worse than that on my 1988 Camry back in the 90's. I knew something was wrong when I had to turn my steering wheel almost a 1/4 turn just to get get it to go straight. When we looked at the offending tire, it wasn't a pretty site.
But yeah. Don't drive on those.
BTW, one of the tires I've used on my car were the PZero Nero M&S and I didn't notice this problem with them. They were the ones I used several years ago to replace the utter crap EL42's that came with the car. The Neros performed pretty well and were a good tire for me.

I have enjoyed these tires too, enough so that this was my second set. It was a lucky thing that I noticed this issue because I dont usually turn my wheels out when I park and the chance of that specific section showing was slim. Hopefully the tires I ordered will be in tomorrow so I can get them swapped out. Havent driven it in a few days, and I miss her

FINALLY, I have new tires!!! Picked up a set of the Continental DWS. Not sure how I like the looks of them. They are kinda dingy looking and all that extra side tread is a little off road/winter tire looking, but we shall see how they perform in the long run. Right now, even without a proper break-in, they absorb the roads bumps much better and my stopping has improved a bunch. I have a few areas around me that require me to stop while going over a number of bumps. The old tires would slide a bit and the ABS would always turn on, well not always, but anytime i had to make a quicker stop. Now these things bite right away and I have none of the same issues. I wont talk much on handling until i get enough miles on them, but like I have read in some reviews they do feel a little more squirrely at freeway speeds. I hope to get a better review in once I get a few thousand miles on them.
