A-spec wheels..good for everyday driving??

Hey guys. I really want to get the A-spec wheels for myself for x-mas , but I'm worried about driving with more rode noise. For all you A-spec wheel owners.. how is the ride? I had 17" wheels with the low profile tires 225/45/17 with my RSX-S and there was a lot of rode noise. Anyways, I have have never rode on 18" wheels before and with the stock wheels on my TL, the ride is quiet. Some good advice would be great. Thanks.

I've got the 18" A-spec rims for my TL, which I use in the spring, summer, and early fall. I also ride the stock 17's during late fall and winter. Yes, I agree, the road noise is less on the 17's, but I think more of that noise has to do with my 245/40/18 Falken Ziex tires, which are mounted on the A-spec rims. The Falkens are good gripping tires, but, as you've probably read in this forum, are a little noisy at low speeds.

In terms of ride comfort, I really cannot tell that much difference. Not enough to be bothersome, that's for sure. My car rides smoothly with both sets of wheels.

I recommend getting the 18's. I, too, debated much about that purchase, but I really love those 18's. They look great, as well. Good luck in your decision process.

Thanks...but not sure which tire brand I should get. I know I had yokos on my RSXS and they were very noisey, but excellent performance. I think my dealers puts on Toyo tires.

Also what is the best size of tires for the Aspec rims. I have been reading and see people getting 245/40/18 for a little more sidewall.

Tires are the key factor in road noise...my 19's aren't much noisier than my 17's. I have Toyo's.

I have the Aspec 18's on all year round. I love them, no problem with daily driving .. i have Pirelli PZero Nero MS's ... a rather soft all season high performance tire... therefore there is very little road noise.

I agree. I use my 18's year round with no issues at all. When I replaced the tires, I stayed with the Yoko's except I went to a 265/35 ZR18. Love the tread design and handling characteristics (although they do not last that long).

The are not the quietest tires, however that's why we have good stereos in the car.

What brand did you go with on the 265s? What is a good price? Can you get a 265 with less road noise?

jsut because the tire is wider doesn't mean it's gonna generate more noise. want a quiet high performance tire? buy michellin pilot sports if you want a quiet high performance tire. get ready to dish out some major cash though. also the yoko es100s i know are hella loud on some cars... RSX-S and TL are no comparison... one's a kids car, the other, a more refined kids car (i say that cuz i'm only 21).... it has better sound deadening characteristics... i'm gonna go 19x8.5 with toyo T1-R tires.
