Soften shocks for break-in?

Who started this whole "set shocks to softest setting for break-in period" thing. Someone told me that during an install and it literally made me laugh.

It is the proper way to break them in. The road race Mustang guys ran into problems going full firm right out of the box. Koni's fix was the break them in on full soft which seemed to fix the problem.

Interesting....my wondering is if you need them full firm out of the box, why not get them valved properly?

It makes you wonder what about the ones that are valved so that full soft is still firmer than full firm on others....

It may have been Koni trying to dodge warranty claims but it did seem to help a little.

It may not be such a critical issue with a street car and somewhat sane spring rates. I break them in on soft for peace of mind but then again I only run my Konis .5 turns from full soft anyway.

I know it presents an issue in the harsh racing environment so I do what they do even if it may not be totally necessary. I mean, it takes 5 minutes to pull the bar off and adjust and even less now that I drilled a hole over each adjuster.

I am not sure which ones you'd be referring to.
