Snow/All season Tires

Hey,

What is a good tire for snow as well as being a high performance tire? These would be for my stock wheels (2000TL). I've read some reviews at tire rack, but they all seem to say that all season tires that are also high performance suck. Is this true?

I was thinking of the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 in a 225/55/16. Anyone have these? I want to get rid of the squeaking when taking fast corners as well as snow performance. Thanks,

I've got the Kumho's and think they're great tires. Wet or dry they hold the road excellent. At about half the cost of the "major" brands you can't go wrong. For snow and ice they wouldn't work. All season and snow tires have alot of small grooves cut crosswise on the tread to provide extra traction. I have a set of Blizzaks 215/55-16 that I install in the winter.

Hey 99WDP,

Here in central virginia, the winters are not that bad. We average about 1 -2 snow storms a winter w/o alot of inches. So you are saying the Kumhos will not do well in a little snow or ice?

CBS, I've never driven in the snow or ice with the Kumho's so I can't say from personal experience. If you read the surveys on the Tire Rack website they're saying that they aren't good in the snow.

I have 225/50-17 Michelin Pilot XGT-Z4, considered an ultra high performance all season tire, and absolutely love them. They are infinitely stickier than the stock tires, Mich Pilot HX MXM4. In the rain they are amazing, very sticky and never hydroplaning. I haven't driven in the snow w/ them yet, but I think they rated pretty well by The Tirerack. They're a bit pricey but they seem to me holding up pretty well. So far, I have about 25000 miles on them they've had no uneven wearing and have yet to need balancing. I think I'll be able to get another 25000 or so out of them. I don't know if they make a size that would fit a 2000 TL.

I have had Pirelli 210 Wintersports for 1 winter. They have been great. Great grip on wet and dry snow
