Is this a sign of camber wear [pics]

Rotated my tires and did an oil change and noticed that my outer edge of the tire is a bit "rough". I'm led to believe that it's due to positive camber? My car is lowered and has been aligned but I don't have a camber kit on. My car has been driven for about ~1500 miles since being lowered.

Additionally, one of the wheel's inner sidewall has cracks as shown in the picture. The tire isn't losing any air, however. Is it something I should be worried about?

Picture of cracks in inner sidewall

I think this picture might be of the inner edge of the tire, not outer..don't remember

Negative Camber causes inside wear and positive, outside wear.

Me, I'd replace it soon cause of the sidewall cracks.

the cracks are bad- how old are those tires?
what did the alignment numbers come out to??- or you never got that done after lowering?
which puts the car in a negative camber situation!

235s tend to catch the rear fender lip and cut or scratch the edge or just past the edge on outer side of tires

225s tuck inside ok with slight mod to fender..I had 235s- I know

Umm no. That is a crack in the sidewall not a cut that was caused by something else. Plus that's the inside of the tire.

He would have to have a pretty good offset & drop for that to happen ..

I ran 235 x 18 and a 38 offset and 1.25 drop and currently 235 x19 and a 35 offset and no rubbing.

I can't tell from your pictures or post, but I assume those tires were on the rear axle before rotating?

If so, I'd have to say the rear tow is out of spec causing the wear. I had the same problem due to out of spec tow on the rear. It caused severe wear on the edge of my left rear tire. (No suspension mods, stock tire size, 6MT)

FYI, on TLs, even if your tow is only slightly out of spec, uneven wear CAN happen.

You had 235's on a 3G?

He's running stock size tires (235/45/17). I find it hard to believe that there is any contact, even after being lowered.

Car isn't rubbing at all. The tire shown was mounted on the rear axle.

My toe should be in spec. Last time at the alignment shop, it read that i have -.01 or -.1 toe. Something like that.

Yikes, I forgot how to spell! (tow vs toe)....

Let me guess...it was the left rear?

The Service Manual spec for rear toe (04TL) is:

IN, 0 to 4 mm (0 to 0.16 inches).

Don't assume. Based on my experience, it doesn't take much for the rear toe to be knocked out of whack. I can almost guarantee that the toe is now out of spec. How long since you got that reading?

Is the wear just on one tire only?

For that picture, yes, it was the left rear. You're good haha!

It's probably been about 2-3 months since it's been aligned. The other tires are pretty much exhibiting the same camber wear and don't have any cracks on the sidewalls.

Same tire on my car, that's how I knew. Don't know why, but it happens a lot with TLs. Have the alignment rechecked/redone. And I really don't think it's the camber that's out of adjustment....Let us know what you find out.

The wear on the shoulders could be caused from a few things: alignment, underinflation or, judging by the rough wear on the edges, heavy cornering.

As far as the cracks on the inner sidewall, that's called torque cracking. It's a very common issue with many Goodyear tires, especially the Eagle ResponseEdge and the Eagle GT. This is a manufaturer adjustable condition and you might be able to get them prorated and a new set of tires put on your car at a discount.

Where did you buy the tires at?

thanks for the insight Bdoggprelude about the torque cracking, I recall reading about that a while back when I was reading up on the tires on tirerack. You're good! The tires are the responseedge I believe.

I got the tires along with the rims from a seller on AZ.

haha..yeah, heavy cornering

went to Firestone this morning and almost everything was in spec except for the rear left wheel which had a toe in the red and was a bit out spec.
