Shopping for shocks...please help!
shopping for shocks for my 07 TL with 85k all oem. Im at a loss here so any help will be greatly appreciated. I don't have any mods. I like aggressive handling/ firm ride but I want smooth lol I know thats asking alot! not to mention best bang for my buck
Koni has a sale right now so Im considering those... but also KYB or TOKICO’s HP... whats the best route? all 4 at once? where should I purchase? Thanks in advance.

I went around and around on this. I seriously spent like a year considering different options. (all the while my OEM shocks getting worse)
The consensus I found was that Konis are some of the best quality ones out there.
The KYBs and Tockicos are a good OEM replacement if that is all the performance level you are looking for.
Then you can get into coilovers for serious track or for extreme lowering/adjust-ability.
With all that, I finally pulled the trigger on Konis and will be installing them soon with my OE Type S springs and hardware. I figured I wanted a better quality component than OE, I like the idea of the adjust-ability of the ride firmness. I'm sure anything would be an improvement over my blown out OEs so I'm hoping just the Konis will be a pretty noticeable improvement over what I've got.

A-spec... Im not sure what that is.... ??? How is that different from what I have? As much as I hate it- I may have to go with monroe as I cant find a shop to do an install on anything I purchase online. Not to mention, if something goes wrong it could cost a fortune in the long run ie labor etc...

KONI shocks are the best shocks on the market in terms of quality and features. You will have adjustable damping, two perches to set ride height, and they are on sale.

I love the Konis, I have them on the lower perch with my stock springs/top hats and set just a little bit stiffer than out of the box, handles very well. I wanted them for adjustability, but if I were paying for labor I'd probably go Aspec since it's a complete drop in swap, no spring compressors or anything needed, they would be easier to install.

There's really no comparison. The best shocks for the TL are the konis. Monroe, kyb, tokico are all oem replacements which will not give any performance benefits. Simple as that. Not sure why it would take anyone a year to make a decision lol

Monroe's aren't going to give you the sporty/firm ride you're looking for. If you go that route, you'll be extremely disappointed.
Tokico's are more performance oriented (in comparison to KYB/Monroe), but from past experiences, they fail prematurely.
I think you're better off going with the A-Spec Suspension Kit. You're not looking to lower your car, you'll have better luck getting them installed, and you haven't mentioned anything about wanting adjustability.

ajustability isn't that important; I dont track my car. Im acually thinking of getting rid of my beloved TL. I spent so much time researching cars before my purchase. Depreciation value, sportiness, value and over all feel of the car was important.... now I have 85k and since I got it (33K) its been one thing after another. HFL fail, rattling sub, etc oh and dont get me started about the leather lol I baby my car and acura dropped the ball on that one.
