Shaking of the steering in the mornings

Everytime I get in the car and start driving it "cold", my steering shakes for the first couple of miles. I have the A-Spec with Yokos AVS ES 100. I've heard that the shaking could be caused by the tires flat-spotting over night.

But it's weird how 4,500 miles and the tires looking almost brand new... flat spot for some reason. I didn't really pay attention to the tire choice, when I bought the car, but I had no idea how bad are these Yokohamas.

I'm really tempted to just go ahead and order some nice Michelin sport a/s. Even though it's over a grand, but this way I don't have to suffer because of the poor quality.

Does anyone else have this problem?

My guess is that it is tire flatspotting that is the culprit. They will continue to exhibit this characteristic until they wear out. It is usually more severe in colder weather. Any tire with nylon belts, which are most high-performance tires, will flatspot to some extent. I think that Bridgestones, like I have, are worse than any other menufacturer.

I agree, this is flatspotting, which improves as you travel further.
