Started feeling some shaking (intense) at every speed. when hitting the brakes, sounds like "thunk thunk thunk". I know I need to replace a control arm so is it even worth changing a tire? and if so, which? Sorry for the quick randomness, will explain more later, trying to get ish done.

How do you know the 'thunk thunk thunk" isn't rotor buildup causing brake pedal pulsation when brakes applied?
Usually a suspension component will rear its ugly head at times when the brakes aren't applied.
Jack it up and check the front suspension.

Could be any or all of the following.

Warped brake rotors
Broken engine / trans mounts
Bad axles
Bad suspension parts

I had a very bad vibration from 20 mph and up. Changed tires. Got a little better. Changed axles, huge difference. I still have a slight vibration. Next I'll change the front and rear shocks and springs, sway bar links and bushings. Any other rubber I can change.

Is shaking intensified when you are at a stop?

Sometimes. I still have a bad upper trans mount I need to change. I replaced the front and side engine mounts . That made a difference as well but I used cheap eBay mounts. I think they are crap. I'll change them to oem in the future

EGR valve maybe? My car started shaking violently long ago for me while driving and was worse when at a stop light. The EGR valve needed cleaning.

Did you have any code or was the CEL on ?

I don't remember if there were a code, but CEL was def on.

Got a similar shake but will be changing axles and looking into suspension upgrade too, while im down there will check bushings
