Rubbing

Anyone know why my old pirrellis 225/40/18 did not rub, but i just replaced them with khumo 712 225/40/18 and these rub like crazy. Its the same profile. I am soo confused.. nothing has changed, i still have the same rims and same drop.

Thanks

1 - You are sure the wheels are mounted correctly?
2 - Tires, even though they are the same specs, have some differences. For some bizarre reason (probably the same issue with clothes) if you measured the width of both tires, the Kumho's are wider. Don't ask me why.

i think it is the tire design. i have the same problem switching from pirelli p7000ss to bridgestone re750s. it appears that the pirelli has a less prominent and more rounded shoulder. it also did not have rim protection (like the re750s) so the tire was "farther" away from the fender lip and bumper tab. these are the only conclusions i could come up with.

i have 18x7.5 with 42 offset wheels on eibach prokits and a rear camber kit.

Well as far as the mounting. I am pretty sure its mounted properly. I even had the car re-alligned so i don't have the irregular wear again, so they would have remounted it.

As far as pirellis, i think you might be right.. they are slimmer some how.. ah well they sucked, only lasted like 40 K not miles but k, I had a bit of wear on the inside from the major drop but damn. Hopefully these khumos last longer if i dont blow them from the rubbing.

shave the fender tab, if that dont work, shave/roll the fender lip a bit.

I think thats what I am going to have to do. I had already shaved it enough so the pirellis wouldn't rub. But I think i gotta do some more.

Thanks

Do the tires rub against the metal fender or the plastic tab ?
