My 08 TL has about 25k miles on it and during routine service the dealer recommended 4 wheel tire alignment, and flush and change transmission and brake fluids, the two latter were about 180 bucks each. I said no that sounds too much how often should brake and tranny need to be done.

 

I don't think you need the brake fluid or the tranny fluid changed yet. Especially not for $180 EACH! Wow lol. Tranny fluid change wouldn't hurt though. Better to be safe than sorry. If at all possible try and see if you can do the tranny fluid 3x3 change on your own. There are some DIY writeups around here.

 

Brake fluid should be flushed completely every 3 years, per the owner's manual-- it's one item that is not governed by the MID Maintenance Minder.

Transmission fluid- it's the "3" code in the MID MM.
However, most people do at least a 3x3 drain-and-fill every 60K miles, while some are more comfortable with a 3 x 3 every 30K, and others do a 1 x 3 every other oil change.
