Rims in Winter?
Hey I was wondering how many people keep their rims on during the winter and who switches back to the stock rims? I live in an area where we get a lot of snow and I was wondering will winter conditions or the salt on the road affect aftermarket rims in any way.

Alot of people switch. I am one of them
Yes winter will take a toll on your aftermarket rims. With chrome rims, can cause pitting and flaking of chrome. With painted/polished wheels they can cause the clearcoat to begin chipping, cracking, flaking
But poor hygiene of the wheels can cause that too

Full of water...
i about to join this group too. my car handled ok this past winter, but lower profile tires just dont cut it in the deep stuff, even if they are all-season.
would it be better to try to find a cheaper after market rim, or try to stick with stock. i was thinking about trying to find some used 04-06 stocks, or even some type-s rims, but i can probably get some after market ones cheaper?!?!?!

Yeah I used to run my stock wheels in the winter and aftermarket ones in the summer on my Lexus when I lived in VA. If you live in an area that gets lots of snow, they likely salt the hell out of the roads and this will ruin your aftermarket wheels. Pick up an extra set of stockers, sand and paint them black (so they don't look as mucked up when they get salt-coated), throw on some good snow tires and call it a day!
