Rims

I'm thinking of getting nice rims for my car and I just missed this auction

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ayphotohosting

Went for a sweet price to the bidder. I emailed the sellers asking if these would work with TPMS and he never wrote back. Is there anything specific I need to be on the look out for to see if TPMS will work or does do the 04s not have TPMS?

any reason why? the only reason I thought of getting different rims was because the previous owner of my TL was Stevie wonder and EVERY rim has massive amounts of curb rash. In fact there isnt an area on the edge of the wheel that doesn't have curb rash. Since I was thinking of getting new Wheels as it is, I thought why not get spiffy ones.

so you guys suggest just getting new OEM wheels instead?

the reason i would stick with stock wheels is because of the width of those wheels being 7.5" as opposed to the stock wheels being 8" in width, and personally I think those wheels dont look good. id save up for some nicer wheels, theres a reason why there 250 dollars

oh, ok do you guys have any recommendations on which ones I should get? I have a budget of perhaps $400 tops. Sorry I'm a relative novice here.

$400 will get you nothing you will be proud of. After installation/balancing, you will be over budget. I started with the same mind set as you. But I saved my cash & jumped to 19" & I am very happy I did. 17" rims are all tire.

I really like those rims... if they had them in 19" without the extra lug holes..;. I'd buy 'em.

Listen if you have a 400 budget for wheels, Id rather you wait untill you get some more money. 400 is the perfect amount for a CAI (cold air intake) and Progress Rear Sway Bar. The CAI depending on brand goes for about 260 and the Progress RSB goes for abour 135. Trust me if you are looking for some imporovments on you car but dont wana break the bank, go with those mods. Good Luck

Thanks for the suggestions. As for size, I thought I'll stick with the 17s, didnt want anything too massive. I think I'll try and get my hands on decent TypeS rims as I've seen a few members on here trying to sell theirs. I really don't have the heart (or funds) to try and spend anywhere nearing double my intended budget.

That progress swaybar has been recommended and I didn't want to get it until I got new tires and wheels as I dont think my tires will last more than a year (with the amount of tread they have left). Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

i say keep the stock rims and fix them.... cant be that much to fix them maybe 100 tops to fix each rim?

then if your budget allows get a set springs to drop the car nice and then progress rear sway bar ... take your time

your car dropped with the stock wheels is so hott trust me

get something that will dropp it a nice hight like tanabe, springs ,h&r ,tein ,somthing like that hope this helps
