Rim Protection
Any suggestions on tires that might "bulge out" a bit more and protect the rims from the curbs. I've seen some posts about different sizes, but all these posts suggest that now your milage will be screwed up, if only slightly. I don't want to fool with that. Can we get a slightly wider tire that fits our rims that is the same diameter as our tires? Thanks. -John

I'm getting a set of 255/40/17 tires when I wear out my original set. Read this thread:

it depends on what the width of the rim is. for :
8inch wide 245-255
8.5in wide 255-256
9inch wide 265-275
9.5in wide 275-285
10 in wide 285-295
these are my estimates, but i don't have any aftermarket rims, but mathematicly it should work.

some tires have wider rubber after the bead sealing, some other (like OEM) are skinny and let the rim take all the damage. i know there are a few brands and models that offer a wider rubber to protect the rim. the one i remember the most is Yoko ES100 : they really get in the way before the rim touches the curb.
