Rim installation pricing

Hi,

I have a severely scratched wheel which will probably need replacing, I did some research on eBay and found a rim for about $130... My question is, since my tire has no damage to it, can I just take the rim to a Sears auto center and ask them to put that instead of the one I have...? And how much would that cost me?

All the shops that I have ever worked at charged between 15-20 dollars to remove and replace (well in this case transfer) a tire.

Do yourself a favor, and DO NOT take the car to Sears- I had a real bad experience in the past, and any new wheel you might bring them might wind up scratched badly. Just my opinion based on experience.

Go to an independent tire shop - or Big-O...the newer the tire machine the better.

Recommendation (if we are talking an A-spec Rim)......PAY OUT THE NOSE NOW! Acura seems to be the only ones that really understand that the A-spec Chome look rims are not chrome....and can put em on right. $88 for mounting and hunter road force balancing all 4...just had new rims and tires put on again about two weeks ago before Easter.

I took my A-spec rims to Discount Tire and they fucked em all up.....they look like total SHIT now(the old set...not the new ones). My honest recommends for A-spec rims....Acura dealer only! At least if they mess em up they know what they have to do......and will take responsibility (which is why it is $90).

Nah, I only have the regular alloy rims... I am going to the dealership today to assess the body damage that the car has along with the rim damage... I'll let you know how much the bill will end up being...

When i got my tires mounted on my 19"s at Goodyear, i got charged around $160 ($72 to mount all four tires, $42 for Wheel balance, $12 to dispose the old tires, and $25 extra labor, because it was oversized wheels). I thought it was too expensive to mount tires.

I paid $88 for having all (4) PZeros mounted, balanced w/ sticky weights and valve stems....I kept the Turanzas just in case I find someone that needs a spare set
( I know some kids that do burnouts...or do the demolition thing....don't ask)....

You can use tires.com and tirerack.com to find local shops with prices posted plus reviews. I know there may be some good Acura dealers but frankly my experience is otherwise so other than essential warranty work I would NEVER go to the dealer.
