REVIEW: Bridgestone Potenza RE760

ZOMG....if you want some nice tires....here you go!

I've only purchased aftermarket 19s tires. I've used Falken FK451, FK452, Nitto NT555, and now the Bridgestones...

I have to say that the bridgestone tires are quieter, smoother, they DEFINATELY grip more....I have yet to figure out how long they last which is EXTREMELY important to me. All previous tires i've had before, i only get about 20k miles through them. The Falkens i don't remember the specs, but the Nitto NT555 was a 300 threadwear, A for traction and temp (or AA i forget).

The Bridgestone Potenzas are 340 treadwear, A traction, A temp. These tires are also more expensive. I paid 170 for the Nitto NT555 in a 235/35/19, and these tires were 215 a piece for the same size. Definately more money when you take $45 x 4 but my rule of thumb is the tires are the only things holding you to the ground so i rather not half ass and go buy some Nakangs or some crap.

340 threadwear is interesting because just going by numbers, you would think that the Bridgestone tires will last longer, at least that's what i thought. I went to a Lexus performance driving event and talked to a guy from Michellin. He told me that all tire companies do their own testing for threadwear so it doesn't necessarily mean that a because a tire says it's a 300 and a tire says 400 means the 400 will last longer.

Because of this bit of information, i choose to go with Bridgestone because our stock OEM tires were bridgestone, and even though they're all season tires, with a treadwear of 280, i used them for 22k miles and they still have plenty of thread.

All manufactures have different ways of testing for wear. I hope because Bridgestone is considered probably THE BEST if not ONE of the BEST (Michellins are up there but i heard you pay for the name? I've never owned any).

I've only had the tires for 2 days, but i'm already EXTREMELY impressed. My Maybe this was helpful? Hope it was.....HAPPY MODDING!

I have been using Bridgestone for years. When I owned BMW's I ran Bridgestone S03 Pole Position, loved them. Then when moving to Acura TL I mounted up some Bridgestone RE050A Pole Position 255/40/18 tires to protect the rims from curb rash and a better look (thanks to the thread by Inaccurate). I sold the stock 17x8 rims with these tires on the Black Market and purchased some Ebony A-specs and just placed the Bridgestone RE760 Sports on in size 245/40/18. They were like $156. from tire rack each and had great reviews. I am fortunate to live in SoCal so I don't need All Season Tires and can purchase Summer Tires each time I need them. The Bridgestone RE760 Sports have great reviews on a wet surface too, but I don't think they are All Season enough for the Northeast. Can't post pictures yet, because it has been raining and thunder storming in the desert (Palm Desert, CA). Happens 3-4 days a year and the car is dirty. Should clear up and will get them posted.

I ran the Bridgestone Potenzas RE960's in 19's for awhile and they as well are awesome tires. Tread wear on them is amazing, and like you said they ride smooth and are very quiet.

yup, i'm actually running the 760's on my aspec 18s - 245/35/18 to be specific. first impression was fantastic - they grip pretty damn well; i'm please. the only thing i'm concerned about is the tread wear. fyi the 960s are GREAT...i got 40k + out of those - and i would've gotten more if i hadn't sold my stock oems

Here is an update with the Bridgestone RE760 Sport tires mounted up on the Ebony A-specs 18x8. The tire size is 245/40R18.[IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

CLASSIC......

I'm only 1/2 Asian, so my face only gets 1/2 as red after a few drinks!

760's will go on my new wheels as soon as I decide which wheels.....so many nice choices available but want something less common

My face get red too after a few shots

I in the martket for new tires. I was reading good review on the potenza tires on tirerack. I have an 05 TL 235/45-17, if i wanted more rim protection what size should i get?

Also, are their any drawbacks?

just my personal opinion, but i think 90% of people on the forums pick garbage wheels for their cars..............look at the new wheels/tire specs thread....disgusting....

I know this tread is old, but hopefully this means I'll get better feedback on the tires. I've had my Potenza RE760s for just over 25K miles and the indicators are already showing on the front tires. My car's a bone stock 01 CLS and I don't consider myself an aggressive driver. At most I'd say I'm a bit lead footed off the light but I'm not stoplight racing / playing Russian roulette with the glass tranny. I think part of the problem can be attributed to my laziness in rotating/alignment but not sure if there is a bigger problem that I should be trying to diagnose.

Also, I have Asian glow, and I approve this picture.

Question would be, if the fronts are worn down, how are the back tires? If not rotating the fronts will wear down quickly on a FWD car.
Many decades ago I had a little Ford Fiesta, maybe 1800 lbs with 12" tires. I didn't rotate them because I used various tires in the front depending on weather, and saw 100,000 from the rear tires.

Got to rotate to distribute the wear patterns and also for longevity.

The backs are pretty good, definitely on me that I didn't rotate them. Still, I thought 25k might have been extreme. Lesson learned! Thanks

The RE760s are a summer tire; I don't think I got more than 25k miles out of mine either, even with rotations.

Those numbers are only valid for comparison across tires from the same manufacturer.

I just realized that I never contributed feedback on these so figured I might as well leave something for anyone who stumbles across this in the future. I haven't had a lot of experience with performance tires but I don't have any complaints about therm. I'd say traction is good and is along the lines of other reviews out there. For those in LA I have full confidence on the on ramp from 10W to 710S, and also on the 110S in general. For those in SD, the 15S to 78E on ramp is similar. My car has stock suspension and I can make these turns at a decent speed without feeling like the tires were losing grip. There's a good amount of body lean from the car, though, which limited how much I pushed these tires.

We went through a period of pretty (relatively) heavy rain and I never felt like the traction was giving out during that time. They rode smoothly for the most part except on crappy roads/freeways, and I didn't notice much noise.

If my car was more performance oriented I'd be inclined to go with these again, but for my specific situation, I'm going to look for something with better tread wear.

Wow, this thread was brought back from the dead a few months ago and i'm going to bring it back again. Ever since I bought that set of Bridgestone tires for my Acura, I since have never bought anything else. I'm currently on my 2nd set of Bridgestone RE11 Extreme Summer performance tires for my Lexus IS F and they're GREAT. 140 thread wear scared me, however, I've gotten the rears to last almost 35k miles. The fronts last almost 50k!

However, i don't drive my car as hard as i used to back then....The RE760s were great tires and hence why I haven't gotten anything else since using them.

Back from the dead again.... I just got my second set of RE760s... first set went 38k... really quiet esp considering the high grip tread pattern

love these tires and you can get a set of the 235/45/17s on ebay through discount tire direct for $452 (normally $552) and free shipping if you wait for when they run the $100 off anything over $400 promotion.. $80 to mount balance and new stems: $532 total

they run $780 out the door at Firestone... so saving $248 or roughly 1/3
