RB (Racing Brake) rubber shims?
I am getting ready to upgrade my quickly failing brembo brakes with RB one pieces rotors and either the 300 or 500 RB pads. But as I look at their website, I see they offer special brake shims.

Apparently they are coated in a special rubber that helps with squeaking and even heat. I searched the forums and didn't find anything about these. I did find, however, that people said the new et pads don't come with shims, thus they don't need them. But then everyone who complained about noise ended up using their stock shims... I'm thinking they don't come with shims because they sell shims individually.
Any benefit to these? The $60 won't bother me much if I know it will help with noise.

Did not know they were available. I used stock shims (even though I was told shims weren't needed) and an appropriate amount of the new(er) OE Brembo caliper grease (bronze colored; it replaced Molykote-77).
I've never had any noise issues with my RB ET500 pads.

If you're wanting shims, I have used titanium ones in the past that have worked good for us.
pretty sure we got them here: http://porterfield-brakes.com/index.php

^I mean if there isn't a benefit of any kind I'll just reuse the oem shims. But those rubberized RB ones seemed kind of unique to me so I figured I would ask.
I'd love to see what Heeltoe, Marcus is it?, has to say about it.

thanks for posting the link to the brake shims. didn't know they exist. i had bought these Racing Brake from Heeltoe. Got the HT-spec brake package stage 1 street. i find that these brakes squeak when it has been heated, meaning driving for a good 20mins or so. When it is cold it doesn't make any noise but when it warms up it squeaks pretty loud, like metal on metal contact.
Haven't msg heeltoe to find out the reason but thinking these brakes has a little metallic in them?
Hopefully Heeltoe can clear things up. will the brake shims work?

My official stance is, you don't need shims. I personally don't really like them them that much. They interfere with really nice pedal feel and they don't seem off offer much benefit. As with many items on RBs side and on mine, they are most likely offered because there is demand for them. Whether the demand is based on a real functional need, or simply customers continually asking about them is unknown.
We do not install shims on cars that we do brakes on. We do not have consistent complaints about noise either.
However, SOME customers do complain about noise. When we have the opportunity to get their cars in here to inspect them one thing seems consistently true: they are not getting their brakes up to temperature.
We outline a lot of this in different writings we have done in the past. Linked here:

We had two cars in just this last weekend that rebedding had helped with. However we know that 9/10 of the time people are not aggressive enough with rebedding. 3-4 applications of brakes slowing the car from about 80 mph to 40 will do it. You need strong and consistent pressure, just shy of engaging ABS.

I've been running the ET500 pads with RB rotors for months now without the shims and I haven't heard the brakes squeak once.

don't know y Racing Brake made these shims but when we install the pads it recommends no shims.
How did you bed the pads. Did you do 80mph - 40mph stop 3-4 times to bed the pads as what Heeltoe commented on?
