question: what do you think about a 225/45/18 tire?
think the 45 series is too much?? i bet you will never bend a rim with that sidewall... but i wonder is that too thick and it would make the rim and tire combo look like shiet.

Not Bad
My Friend TotalLuxury has 225/45/18's on his car he loves the way it rides as of the rim he bent it twice but the tires are great grip and performance but two problems #1 Too Expensive

I am going through this issue right now. I just ordered 215/45ZR18 through Tire Rack. This is the size that they are
telling me to use. I have the Kumho 225/40ZR18 on my
2001 TL. Just turned 20,000 miles and I have heat bulges on
both of my front tires. The Tire Rack said the load rating for these
tires are not good with my Car. The dealer was offering to put
a 225/45R18 on my Acura to fix the problem with my current tires. Tire Rack said the 225/45 would be to tall for my car. I would have to make modifications to the fender walls to run these tires
without rubbing. The stock Acura tires are 25.6 inchs tall the
225,s are 26 inchs. Tire Rack warned that the 225,s could cause
transmission and drive tran problems. I am not an expert on this
but Tire Rack helped me get 2 free tires out of my Acura Dealer.

in terms of being too tall of a tire, it really depends on the brand. i know pirelli sidewalls are a bit more contour so they aren't actually that tall, while a nitto 555 extreme has a higher contact patch thus the sidewall sits stragiht up a bit more...

I am 99% sure that the TL that Comptech uses in their catalog has 225/45/18 on it. You can go and check it out on their website. In my opinion, it looks better/sportier with 225/40/18.

i used to have 215/45/18s and it looked a little big so i got 225/40/18s. I still bent one rim a little with the 45s but the tire pressure was way too low when that happened. anyway I wouldn't mind having 45s again; the extra protection is nice to have

I say go for 235-40-18 (just like me!!!). They are the closest on the diameter with stock and with the tire being wide, they have awesom grip/traction on the road. The only thing is that you should not lower your car or at least not the rear. Only lower front. Because fronts usually have bigger gap than the back, it evens out. I did not lower my car but it looks lowered anyways. I had many people asked me if my car was lowered. They look great too. They are not too thick or thin. Just perfect:p :p :p .

Just remember that the overall "height" of the sidewall is dependent on the width of your wheel. A wider wheel will reduce the sidewall height while the opposite holds true for a narrower wheel. This in relation to the recommended wheel size for the specific tire size.
