question with tein SS..
question with tein SS..
hey guys, im still kinda new to the suspension thing and im trying to get me a set of the tein ss coilovers. my question is, it says it dosent come with the upper mounts. what do they do and do i need them? also, do i need the type-r bushings? says it minimizes ride comprimse. any feedback would be appreciated. thnx!
You do not need to have the upper mounts , you can use yours however when you do this you have to break down the suspension parts in order to take off your current tophats. I would suggest you pay the extra $100 or whatever it is and get the upper hats so it's easier to swap back your suspension later ( i personally did this and im running the Tein SS's as well ). You do not need the type-r bushings but if your a suspension guru or enjoy taking corners hard you might want to consider them as they will make the suspension slightly tighter but it might feel a little more bouncy , just depends on your driving habits on if you want to get them or not. If you have anymore questions you can ask me and i'll try to help.....

Shop is right by Tein in LA and he is certified by them as an installer too
He can pre-assemble and adjust the shock/spring height
so its a plug and play assembly

The type R bushings will NOT make the suspension more bouncy...
They reduce/ellimainate the "slop" in the rubber bushings in the top of the coilover hats. This makes the supension that much tighter... but tight = more road vibrations.
I highly reccomend them, and the 07 Type-S also comes with these bushings.

TEIN hasn't released the SS-P's yet for the 3rd gen TL. You would have to reuse your stock upper mounts and go with the SS unless you wanted to wait for TEIN's release of the SS-P.
PM me if you need any TEIN part.
