Question about all-season tires? Please advise!
Two weeks ago I bought a 2005 Acura TL 6-speed and it came with Bridgestone Potenza tires. I live in the Midwest and it has already snowed 3 times. Can someone please advise me on what they think is the best all-season tire or some options that I should consider? Thank you for you help!

I spoke to Tire Rack and they recommended that I chose the Pirelli PZERO NERO M&S or the AVON Tech M550 A/S. The Avon is cheaper, but which one performs better and is the better option?

I suggest you look at the size and go on the tirerack website. They do lots of tires testings, and you can choose for yourself.
So you got the car with summer only tires?
If that's the case I've would not want to drive with summer only rubber either. I've been there and it sucks and is dangerous.

Of the two, the Pirelli's are the sportier tire (see Tire Rack's tire tests). But alot of people on these boards (including myself) think the Toyo Proxes 4 can't be beat (do a search on Proxes). You can get a nice deal on them from Edgeracing.com.

You really might want to consider true snow tires for the winter. No all season tire will match the grip that a good snow tire will provide.
1. With better grip comes better confidence.
2. With better confidence comes more relaxation.
3. With more relaxation comes less over reaction and mistakes.
Get the drift. I've seen it make dramatic differences in many people's attitude towards winter driving. None I know have ever regretted the investment.
You are already looking to get another set of tires anyway so why not snows. The OEM Brigestones aren't the best tire in the summer but they don't last that long anyway. I'd just get snows and keep the OEMs for the summer. All season tires are usually a compromise that neither excels in the summer or the winter but offers one mediocre, cost effective, solution.

The Nokian WR, for sure. A few on this forum have had good experiences, as have a few friends of mine. I'd put them on too if I didn't want a dedicated winter and summer tire.

I went with the kumho ecsta asx 245/45/17 tires. The larger size and the softer tire made a big difference in the ride, compared to the OEM el42 tires, which in their last awful days ran like slippery tank treads. The kumhos seem to have great grip in the rain and snow and are much easier on the divider strips and bumps in the road. The handling is still just as responsive. Expected tread life is 40000+ compared to the 24000 I got on the bs tires. They look the same from the side but have a wider, more muscular look from the front and rear. I would highly recommend them, especially in the 245 size (calculated speedometer error is only about 1 mph).
