Progress springs and Tokico HP Blues

I have searched and I don't think I have seen this kind of set up on this forum yet (maybe I am wrong). The ride is not as good as stock offcourse but suprisingly its not bad either. Actually a couple of people that I drove around said they couldn't notice the difference at all as it's still confortable and smooth. There is a huge improvement in handling and so far I am loving it. Only installed it on saturday so I don't know if they settled in yet and all that but I am waiting untill the weekend to get an alignment and then we'll c what the "damage" is on the camber.

How much did it drop your car? I would definately get an alignment because when I got my drop my rear was towed so bad it wore down the wheel really fast.

I believe it was 1.5ish all around but I didn't measure before. Yea I will get an alignment this weekend. I just wanted to give the setup a chance to settle before I get one done.

these are the ones I got. I asked Excelerate if they would fit my car as he sells these to members here as well. He said they fit out TL so I got them. Also some other members said they got these. Here is the link of the ones I got:

hey i just noticed that my rear springs make alot of noise when they are being compressed. I don't know what the problem is but I can only hear it when I am going really slow over bumps. I can also hear it when I press down on the trunk. Now I am tripping out that i didn't install the springs right. Does it matter which way the springs are rotated in the back? I know that there is a difference in the front because they are a cone shaped but what about the back? ANyone had this problem before?

^^ Ha! This sounds like the classic dead coil noise, if all the bolts and nuts are tight.

What do you mean the springs are rotated? The springs will only fit one way and the springs are coiled in the same direction for both left and right.

Anyway, if the end of the spring touches the stop of the spring seat, it may make some noises too.

I believe everything is tightened so I don't think that is the problem.
By rotated I mean can they be put in any way becuase there are no markings that say which goes on the bottom which goes on the top right? This is for the rear only I am talking about. What can I do to get rid of the noise? It doesn't bother me that much because I can't hear it unless I am getting off my drive way and driving really really slow on a bumpy road but I would still like to get rid of it

The rear springs are still a little conical in shape. If you install them upside down, the bottom part will sit loose against the spring seat and the top part will also be loose in the rubber bushings.

I don't install Progress springs often enough, but I vaguely recall the springs don't have dead coils. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

now you got me worried haha If they are a little conical, on which side would the smaller diameter go? bottom, same as front? I didn't notice they were conical. I looked at it 5 min ago and the top of the spring is alot more compressed at the top then the bottom, is that how the stock springs sit as well? I can't remember as I only did this once and I didn't pay as much attention as I should have I guess.

The smaller diameter should be on the bottom. If your springs have the logo/name/model number stamped on them, most of the time they should be the right side up.

If one end of the spring looks very compressed, it means it has dead coils and it's possible that they make the noise.

The stock springs don't have dead coils.

When you are first installing your springs the lower part of the spring should be tightly coiled. Hopefully that is the case when you installed yours.

this is the best picture I could get without lifting the car up. This doesn't look too good to me so I am not sure if I did this right or not. I will lift the car up on Friday so I I can measure the spring to see if the smaller side is up top or not.

The spring looks alright. Don't worry about it. I'm pretty sure the noise comes from the dead coils hitting each other.

yes those are the shocks. I remember the first part number for sure. I asked excelerate before I was ordering these if they were the right ones for our TL since he sells these and he knows. He told me they are good on our TLs and there shouldnt be problems so i got them.
