Potholes Can Ruin Your Day...

Returning from the Acura dealer after my B1 service. All is well. They even rotated tires. Then I ran into a pothole the size of half the lane. I had nowhere to go as I was flanked by 2 cars on either side of mine. The TPS warning came on immediatly. Well, the damage is done. Looking for a wheel repair in So Cal (SFV).
Wow, the TL sure looks fugly with that spare

i wonder if there is a way you can sue them. They should be responsible for the road we drive on! But ouch on the bend on your Varianza's (is that what you rolling on) def should do something about it. Good luck on the outcome! and thanks for the comment!

That sucks! Roads here in RI are so bad that the state has a claim form you can pick up at any police station to request reimbursement. Maybe you have the same thing in your state? Check your DOT website.

I d/l a form from the city clerk web page. After the repairs I will submit form but really don't expect much as LA county is pretty much broke. I did report the pothole, so hopefully I saved someone from this nightmare.

That happened to me....I took pictures, measured the hole and dated the time and date...Sent it to the city and got nothing. They never give you a dime. Sucks, but they have 48 hours after someone claims damage to repair the pothole. Sucks, I know. That rim looks done! Is it fixable?

In California, one makes a claim to the city (or local gov't entity) first; a claim must be made and denied before one has a right to sue the gov't entity.

In your case, you may want to contact the local public works dept. responsible for the area around the pothole to see if it has claim forms that you can use. However, if the pothole developed recently (such as from the last week of rain) and the city had no notice of the pothole or chance to repair it, it could just deny your claim. You have a better case if the pothole existed for a long period of time.

Oh, and call your dealer to see what shop it uses for wheel repairs.

Funny, I was on my way back from the dealer. I really don't think they deal with custom wheels such as Work. I have the original 17" wheels in storage so I am going to grab one tomorrow morning to replace the spare untill I find a shop. Only down side is I have to buy a floor jack for the swap. Oh well, it's only money

Every car dealer I've been at also sells aftermarket and custom wheels, and many have cars on the floor with non-OEM wheels as additional-cost options.
I assume that the dealers would thus have either a wheel repair shop along with a body shop and PDR shop to repair vehicles damaged during transit, for example.

Depend on the city or county. If you have proof of wheel repair, some city would reimburse you. I read this on the news couple years ago. But you would have to take pictures of the pot holes and date and location of it was well. It is worth a try.

Brought it to Tru Wheel today. They are confident it can be fixed & quoted me a price of $125. This includes buffing the lip to remove scratches. I will post a pic before I remount it.

Good deal, I hope I never bend a wheel (knock on wood), but its good to know that if it happens it can be fixed for relatively cheap.

Got the wheel back. Very impressed with their work. They even polished the curb mark (from a prior incident) to like new condition.
