Pic 1 of 11 wheels for 07 ASM TL-S

I have an 07 ASM TL-S. Please pick 1 of the 11 wheels listed here.

They will ALL be 19" not staggered that fit the 07 TL-S with Brembo brakes.

If you think something other then these 11 will look better, please put brand,

model, and color. Make sure they fit Brembo brakes. Price doesn't matter.

1. Work Varianza 1TR
2. Volk GT-C Silver
3. Volk GT-S Silver
4. Volk GT-V (what color)
5. Volk SF-Winning Silver
6. Legend (what color)
7. Legend II Silver
8. 5 Zigen Sports Engine (what color)
9. Axis Shine
10. Axis Hero (what color)
11. A Black centered wheel with polished lip. Please include brand/model.
and must fit the Brembo brakes

If you don't like any of these put what you like. Brand/model, color, etc.

Here is the car they are going on. Thankyou for good answers.

First off you are asking alot of the members. I think you need a poll. Plus you should post pictures of each wheel.

I mean you are the one thats going to finally decide on the wheel. You did this same thing when you were trying to figure out what suspension to get and what exhaust to get.

You need to make it easier for us to help you. You cant just throw out this huge blanket question and make us to all the research for you.....

Post up pics of each wheel. Prices and what not. Tell us what offset they come in.

Then let the members tell you their opinions.

Hey JD,

First off, I think your car is one of very few that actually looks fantastic with the OEM TLS wheels. Perfect height, skirts and color make them look great. I actually like them more than the wheels you sold.

From what I see on all the other wheel posts on AZINE...I'm sure most guys here will disagree with me, but you asked for opinions, and this is mine.

Being an 'old school' kinda guy, I like simple, silver 5-spoke wheels with no rivets over the newer 'mesh' styles and the black/grey/gunmetal finishes. 5-spoke wheels are SO MUCH EASIER to clean and to keep clean. With 5-spoke wheels in 18" or bigger you can actually get your hand inside the spokes and wax the inner wheel and your calipers on a regular basis without taking them off the car (HUGE plus for me). So for all those reasons, I like the Axis Shine and the Axis Hiro of the wheels you've listed. They both have a polished lip too, which I really do like.

FYI, I have a set of these MODA MD1's, in 18 X 8 on order from Tire Rack wrapped in YOKO Advan S4's. (They should be shipping to me on the 17th). SIMILAR to the Axis wheels you like, but different. I think these will contrast just enough with my MRP color, and they're not expensive. I'm not all that concerned with anything but the look of the car but I know you are looking for super strong and super light wheels so these may not work for you. But I like 'em!

Thanks ChicagoBurbs. I also really like the wheel you have on order. I just love the look of the polished lip. I really liked the 5 spoke silver wheel on my 06 TL. But I want a lower profile tire and a bigger wheel. I am willing to get a heavier wheel as long as its not a cheap quality one. I will just get a lighter tire to make up for the wheel. I have looked @ Tirerack about every 3 days to see whats new. They have an ASA ZR2 wheel in 19" coming in August. Its a mesh style. But the picture @ Tirerack is a wider wheel with a different offset then what will fit the Brembo's. I called them and had a talk about the picture of it.

I'm afraid I still can't agree with this...in my opinion, it's a little "less bad". I just can't warm up to the "Giant Eggo Waffles" Acura decided to put on the Type-S. Axis Hiro's, on the other hand, would look VERY nice on your car.

I like the Waffle wheels much more now that its lowered, but I still don't say WOW when I look at them. When I tradded in my 06 TL with 4k miles, I ALMOST had them swap the wheels. But I thought I would give the Waffle's a chance.

I see the Pole is still small, but the Original Legend is in 1st place. I was leaning towards the Legend II, But really need to see an actual 19" that fits the Brembo's. I am sure it will look much different then the 20" with the 3.25" lip.

I still love Volks, but the TPMS straps Suck IMO. The Work Varianza is very popular on other Forums, and is so sweet, just NEED to see them on a TL.

I can't/don't want to hurry the next set of wheels.

Thanks for anybody who votes or puts up good advice/comments/opinions. Jeff D.

I know what most of those wheels look like, so I voted based on that (Legend Type II, for what it's worth).

And I have to say, I'm with ttribe...no matter what else is done to the car, I can't get with the stock TL-S wheels. But you're obviously thinking the same thing as you want to replace them.

Anyway, the car looks great, overall. 20% tint and Eibach springs, right?

I didn't think the Legend II's cleared brembos?

Axis Hiro's/ Jazz Trinity's are still 2 of my favorite wheels, right behind the Inspires

Red face

Thanks much !!!

The new Legend II in 19" will clear the Brembo's, but has a 1.5" lip, not a 3.25" lip like the 20" Legend II has.

I like the Jazz Trinity also, but not sure if they still make them, plus I don't think they fit Brembo's, maybe I am wrong. I have 100 pages of notes from 3 months of searching.

When I look at my car now, it does look MUCH better with the stock wheels, BUT I can IMAGINE how much BETTER it will look with great looking wheels.

The shines are definately on my list.

Thanks again, LOVE the feedback and great comments! Jeff

JD...
You can't have big lip and big brakes... Your front fenders aren't wide enough.

If you're hoping for 3-4in lip, it's never gonna happen.

Kennedy;
I know I can't have big lips and big booty brakes. The Legend II 19" has a 1.5" lip, and thats OK. Thats why its on the list. Just having the polished outer ring/lip adds so much.

ballinfizzle89;
I like all the wheels on the list, and ALL of them fit the Brembo's, BUT some of them I prefer more then others. I just wanted opinions also.

I am shocked more people didn't vote for the Legend II.

Thanks again!

Yep, 19" Legend II's will clear, 20" won't. The Trinity's will not fit over the Brembo's, either. It's tough for you Brembo guys to find wheels...you did good to come up with that list of "standard" wheels (standard as in they fit off the shelf...obviously you could get any custom wheels to fit). And most of them look pretty good, too. That said, I still vote for the Legend II (RJSD quality is top notch...I know from personal experience).

Now, you could have a 3-4" lip in the rear, provided you didn't get a four-wheel BBK...basically giving the car a staggered look. It's not my thing, but it may be something you're interested in.

I love the staggered look, but I like to rotate my tires and think it will make the car handle strange. I only have the stock TL-S Brembo's up front.
1 more wheel is coming out at Tirerack, its an ASA ZR2 Mesh style that fit the Brembo's. I think they look great. The Legend II 19" is close to my top pick, but I need to see the 19" ON A TL w/Brembo's.

Kennedy:
I was SO CLOSE to ordering the Volk GT-C 19" as you know. I don't need to tell you what swayed me from them. I will think for a while, NO MORE hurrying. You were CORRECT, REMEMBER.

Thanks much! Jeff

I like the Moda MD1, but not as much as the ones on my list.

I can't wait to see them on your car, when are they do in, and when can we

see some pics Mr. Burbs ?

I hear you on rotating your tires...you can't rotate real staggered wheels, and with the fake staggered look, you'd have to go to the shop to have them dismount and remount your tires to rotate them, which is a pain. It's much easier when you can just do it in the garage/driveway. However, if you don't mind going to the shop for that, fake staggered will give the appearance of staggering without the negative handling effects (plus, all of the tires are the same size as the wheels are ultimately the same size so they can be moved around).

If you wait to see pics of the Legends (don't blame you), you've got some time before you get wheels (those bad boys are a long time coming). I've learned it's worth waiting for what you want, though. If there's a chance these wheels are the ones, it'll be worth the wait to see the pic...anything else you might get will still be available then. If you didn't have the Brembo's, I'd sell you the hottest wheels Rondy ever made.

When I first saw the Legend II with the lip my JAW dropped. Awesome. Now I look at the regular 19" Legend and still like how big it looks. The lip and how the spokes are bent on the Legend II makes the 19" look smaller then the regular 19" Legend. I HAVE to see the new Legend II 19" with the MUCH SMALLER 1.5" lip on a TL b4 even considering them.

I did some more research on the Axis wheels since SO many people voted on the Axis Shine. I like the Shine alot, but I don't like the fake rivits or the 2 tone on the spokes.
I like the way the silver Hero's look, 1 color and no fake rivits. But the lip on the shine is 2.67" on the 19x8.5", while the Hero's lip is only 1.375" on the same size wheel. They weight within a few ounces of each other, at about 26.75-26.8 pounds. So they aren't light, but they aren't as heavy as some other 19" wheels.

Many things to think about. The Hero is designed more for staggering while the Shine is designed more for a standard same size all-around for rotating.

I still like the Volk GT-S and Work Varianza, but they cost around $550-$600 each, while the cheaper wheels I have on the list are about $350 each on an average. If the Volk 2 piece wheels didn't require STRAPS for the TPMS sensors, I would of ordered them 2 months ago. The Volk GT-C was my first choice, but I think I like the GT-S more now. More aggressive and the spokes aren't as large.

Wait and see what happens ???

Theres a white TL with silver center Hero's in 19" and it looks fantastic

I don't like the 2 tone on the Shines spokes, and the fake rivits. They DO look excellent, but I prefer the Hero's in silver. I just read that TPMS sensors might NOT work on them? They are 1 piece cast, I can't see why?

I am having computor problems and I can't e-mail places for answers, and I work 6am-6pm, so everywhere is closed when I can call. SHIT.

I really like the Volk GT-S in silver, but haven't seen them on a TL. Just mercury silver which is darker. I think the Axis Hero looks alot like the GT-S for $260 less PER wheel. I know they are strong wheels, but I am not racing my car.

Many things to consider this time around

I will probably get wheels when first sign of NO MORE snow/salt in Chicago area late winter 08. I can't see buying wheels and having them on for a month or so.
I have seen snow/salt as early as Oct 1 around here. So depending on what I decide on getting, I will order accordingly. If I want Volks, I will order Dec 25 07. So I can HOPE to have them on my car by May 1 08. If I want RJ's I will order April 1 08. And so on.

JD,
Another consideration... If the roads are as bad as you say they are in Chicago, you should certainly consider the cost of a true forged wheel, and possible stay with an 18.

Cast wheels are softer, and will bend easily. Forged won;t, they just crack under extreme loads.

Looks like the Shine has competition. The GT-S and Varianza are tied for second place.

They are 2 of my VERY favorites, and they are both STRONG wheels

Very Very Interesting

I am NOT a computor WIZZARD like most of you people. I would do as you have

asked if I could. I know what all of these wheels look like, and I am sure that

many people who have been on this AZ forum for a while also know what they

look like. If you have been searching alot, you would ALSO KNOW what they

ALL look like. Any way thanks for the Good Luck!!!!

Maybe you can search around and come back with a VOTE next time

Thats one of the reasons I purchased the Volk RE 30.

Where I live the roads can get real bad, BUT 99% of the time its during the Winter

when the salt and snow plows mess up the roads. Usually they fix all the bad

spots at the end of winter. And my stock wheels will be on the car during this

time. I am still highly considering Volk GT-S 19's in Silver, but want to find a

Volk Dealer who makes me feel comfortable using TPMS straps. Every place I

called and went to, didn't like the straps. I don't mind using them, just need

some kind of thumbs up somewhere
