Parts List For Adding '06 Tire Pressure Monitoring to an '04 or '05

Called a dealer parts dept. just for the heck of it to find out what you need to do this upgrade. These prices are approximate list and don't include installation, additional hardware, or brackets that may be required :

TPMS Sensor............$49 x 4
TPMS Receiver..........$181
Initiators..................$32 x 4

------------------------------------

............................... $505 !!

I think I'll continue using my $.99 "manual" tire pressure monitor. Hasn't failed me since I bought it and is transferrable between cars.

Thanks for putting the list together though.. Good to know!

The system is probably hard-wired to the body computer to work with the MID.

It's probably VERY difficult or impossible to retrofit the '06 TL's TPMS to an earlier car. Many of the same obstacles we'd face trying to retrofit factory navi to a non-navi car would probably apply here too.

I went the aftermarket (Smartire) route. Love it.

505 is ok price if you really want this feature. but doesn't the mid need to be updated as well to get it to work right?

There's gotta be some way to confirm that the MID chip or whatever software that loads into it can be updated...

it's a little more complicated than just those parts... you'll need all them parts plus new wire harness and probably a new computer from an 06 that has the software to display the reading in the MID...
