Called a dealer parts dept. just for the heck of it to find out what you need to do this upgrade. These prices are approximate list and don't include installation, additional hardware, or brackets that may be required :

Aaaarrrggghhhh!
I think I'll continue using my $.99 "manual" tire pressure monitor. Hasn't failed me since I bought it and is transferrable between cars.

The system is probably hard-wired to the body computer to work with the MID.
It's probably VERY difficult or impossible to retrofit the '06 TL's TPMS to an earlier car. Many of the same obstacles we'd face trying to retrofit factory navi to a non-navi car would probably apply here too.
