Ordered new wheels - FASTWheels/Stagg

Hi All,

I have just ordered a new set of wheels for my 04 WDP TL. They are made by FastWheels in Canada. Model is called "Stagg" in gunmetal with machined face. Take a look and let me know what you think. I'll post pics once the are installed - should be by the end of the week.

Tires will be Toyo Versado LX

I'm hoping the OEM center caps will fit.

Specs are:
17 diam,
7.5 width,
Bolt pattern: 5x100/114.3mm,
Offset: 45
I decided to stick with the 17" rims to maintain the ride comfort. Also the cost goes up quite a lot for the 18" or 19" size.
I will keep my stockies with winter tires mounted for winter and these will be my good weather wheels.

I would go with at least 18's if you are upgrading. They will look smaller because of the design of the wheels and it wont look too good. But that's IMO

I would do at least 18's and preferably 19's if I were you...also, I am assuming you don't have a 6MT, cause those won't clear the calipers...either way I would consider a more aggressive offset, but that's just me...I still think it's a nice looking wheel...

dj,

The OEM TL wheels are 17x8, so you bought wheels a bit thinner than the OEM's. It'll work, but it's customary to go bigger, not smaller, than OEM specs.

Wow dude, those are gonna look tiny. Definitely post pics when they're on...and I hope your car is auto, otherwise you may have some pretty serious issues clearing the brembo's.

the ride quality is about the same with 18's...especially if you're still going to be using the stock suspension.

^^^GO 19's Bro. That size rim will look VERY small. When buying wheels with a lip, you need 1" bigger wheel to look good. Even 18" would look small unless you lower the car about 1.5" front and rear.

Sorry all - my bad. I checked with the shop and they are 8" width, not 7.5.
My TL is a 6-speed but the manufacturer says they will definitely clear the Brembros. If not they'll take them back - in which case I will consider going a little bigger.

I appreciate all the comments/suggestions. The dealer (a tire and wheel specialty store) is a personal friend who I really trust and they highly recommend that I stick with the OEM size because the car was set up by Acura this way for a reason - it is the best balance between ride comfort, handling and economy. The larger wheel/tire combo might be better from a cosmetic point of view but in terms of vehicle dynamics the 17" rims are optimal. We'll see...

I'll post pics some time next week.

So I took the TL in today for the new wheels & tires and guess what! You were all right. They wouldn't clear the Brembo's. The manufacturer had said they would so sending them back and on Monday we will try find some other options.

Anyone had luck finding a decent wheel easily available in Canada that fits the 6-speed 04-06 TL that is also a decent price? These were gonna be around $205 (CDN) a piece.

new wheels update...

So...
I have found another wheel that I like which "they say" will fit the 6-speed TL and clear the brembo's.

I've ordered them in the 18x8.0 size with a +42 offset
Style is called: Tarantula (also Fastwheels).

Getting them fitted on Saturday and will post pics next week.

Buddy - you didn't scroll down the page. If you read my post #19, I have now ordered a different wheel in 18x8 size.

I'm going to disagree with the above because if you get an Aspec TL from the dealer, it comes with 18" rims, which is OEM. So its still OEM running 18s. But that is my opinion.

And the 18" A-specs were available in 18x8.5 the first year.

Vehicle dynamics get fucked up when you start going into crazy offsets, stretching tires, going with a staggered setup, etc.

That's interesting! Because they clear perfectly. And in my opinion they look great. I'm the one who has to live with them so I guess that's all that matters. Got them installed on Saturday.

Looks good. Looks a bit small though. i know first hand because i also have a set of 18" Fast with a lip. The damn lip makes everything appear smaller

But a drop should fix the wheel gaps

Glad to see you didn't get them in chrome, out of curiosity - what tire size are you running?
Do you plan to drop at all? (Even A-Spec?)
