Opinion On 3G '05 Stock Wheel Paint Color Choice

Hey guys,

All of my rims are curbed and my front driver wheel is peeling. Ive decided to repair my rims and repaint them myself when the weather warms up a bit more vs paying a shop alot of money to do the job for me following this guide

https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-tsx-problems-fixes-128/another-curb-rash-rim-repair-diy-56k-beware-731189/

When it comes to the paint, im thinking of going gun metal for my 05 stock wheels. I always wanted the 3G Type S wheels but I current do not have the funds for them currently. Maybe the new color will calm my craving down lol. Silver is boring me currently, and Black in my opinion does not contrast well with the pearl green paint. I will update my progress with pictures as soon as the weather permits. Thoughts?

I just painted a set of wheels with Rustoleum Graphite and I'm very happy with the color.

Gunmetal will look good but with your car being DGP, I think the stock color is just fine

They came out great! Nice job. I will definitely paint them that specific color. I hope I do all the steps correctly.

It's all in the prep work. Degrease, sand, wash, then isopropyl aclcohol before laying down your first coat of primer.

My concern is doing the work while the tire is still mounted on the rim. I hoping that i can sand it down properly. I'm confident with all the other steps. My TL is my daily driver so i cannot have the rims unmounted for a long time, and I will be doing one wheel per week until I complete my project. I'm contemplating on purchasing a dremel for the curb rash sanding. Thanks for your advice!

True, but I'm set on the gunmetal. I have never seen a DGP with gunmetal stocks here in Atlanta, and their are TONS of TL's here! lol

You are much better off painting them all at once. Even If you do one wheel at a time, your car will be down approx two days to let the paint cure (8 days to do all four wheels seperately). The most time consuming part is prepping the wheels for paint. Once you start painting them it's goes by very quick.
