Compare these 2 rims...
Stock '00 TL rim 16x6.5 +55mm Offset
Stock CL-s rim 17x7 +55mm Offset

If comparing both rims mounted on the front, would the cl-s rim be 1/2" closer to the shock tower than the stock TL rim? Or would the 1/2" be distributed evenly (1/4" out and in?)

This rims $h!t is driving me frickin crazy! I need this info so I can narrow down my selection of tires sizes for my cl-s rims.
Any help would be great! Thanks.

 

Since offset is measured from the center line of the rim to the mounting surface, and the offseta atre identical, the additional 1/2 inch is distributed evenly on both sides.

Don't forget there are guys here with 8 inch rims and +53 offsets so you have more rom than you may think.

There are only a handful of members with 235's and no one I know of has 8 inch. From what I see on my car, the tires will hit the struts. You could drop down to 7.5 inch and then, although still risky, you could get away with a minor adjustment on the rear fender.
