NITTO NT 555 Extreme Performance Tires
Does anyone have the Nitto 555? If so what do you think?
I am going to order a set of 245-40-18's and I would like some feedback before I order. I would like some feedback regarding performace, sound (noise) and wet traction.
This is what reports say about this tire:
Make no mistake, Nitto's new NT-555 is for the performance-driven individual. When this new tire went on the drawing board, Nitto's engineers utilized racing concepts like the biggest achievable tread contact patch and specially formulated tread compounding to put incredible traction and handling at the very center of the NT 555's character.
ˇTread pattern maximizes block size for high speed stability and superb cornering performance.
ˇHigh-density bead filler stiffens the sidewall to provide excellent steering response.
ˇFull-width steel belts and jointless edge and ply caps stabilize tread and resist deformation at high speeds for incredible stability and control.
ˇAdvanced, high-grip compound delivers superior mobility on both wet and dry surfaces and enhances tread wear.
-Tread block diversity disperses pitch variations to reduce noise for a quiet ride.
ˇZ-rated (up to 168 mph)

I have a set of 18's with nitto 555. I like them as far as everyday driving. They do not seem to grip great in the rain. They don't let me slide but when I start on a incline they seem to spin sometimes. They have no noise that i can tell but I also blare the radio. Ride pretty smooth. The tread holds up very good for a low profile tire. They are a great tire for the money but if you don't mind the money I like Pirellis. Probably will put those on when I need new tires. I also really like toy tires also but they all are good tires. Probably can't go wrong with the any of them. Hope this helps!

I had them on my 99 Accord V6 Coupe and was not impressed. Very bad in the rain and not as sticky as some in the dry. For the $$ the Falken can not be beat. I'd go that route before ordering the Nittos

I have the 555s only because the tires I wanted, Falken St115s, were on national back order for a number of weeks. I find the tires to grip really, really well (even my semi-pro driver friends think so). Beyond the grip, the ride is kind of rough and extrememly loud. Instead of just cliing these Nitto 555 Extreme, the company should rename them Nitto 555 Extreme-ly Loud
Get ST115s...those rock!!

I have 245/35/19's and they are pretty loud... at 40 to 45 mph. For some reason it's quiet below 40 and after 45 ...even 70mph they are quiet. Not sure if it's the tire or something else...

I like the nitto's I do not drive that car in the wet they are really ultra hi performance summer tires. I suspect all year performance ie wet and snow are poor.

Nitto 555's are hardly Ultra High Performance. They stink in the wet and are really not much better in the dry compared to many of the tires in this catagory. The one thing the Nitto has going for it is that easy to 30-40k out of them.
