New Tire Question

I have a 06 TL (auto) and it is now time to replace my OEM Bridgestones.

I'm looking at the following:

- Falken FK 452
- Good Year Eagle F1 All Season
- Toyo Proxe 4
- Yokohama S Drive

I'm interested in getting a tire with very little road noise, better mileage (OEM only got 12,000), and better handling.

I live in Dallas, Texas. Not sure if all summer tires (falken's) will be ok - since we do have ice, etc.

Any advice would be great.

People are having good things to say about the Falken FK 452's. You only got 12K??? I drove my stock Michelins for 28K before I got new rims, and still use them as "winter" even though I minimize driving in winer. I put about 31K on the michelins and they still good.

Do a search next time

Just a few. Some people have good things, some have bad reviews...

You can also check out tirerack.com for reviews on them

Actually it's an OLD tire question.
Search is your friend.
If you don't know whether you need an all season tire, how can we?

As Fulani said, the Falkens have been rated highly, as have the Goodyears, Bridgstone A960's, Michelin Pilot, etc.
Once you have decided which type of tire you need, then try www.tirerack.com.
It is an excellent source of information, as is Acurazine.
Just need to realize that this question comes up at least once a week.

If you don't know whether you need a summer only tire, how can we? Maybe some other Dallas members can offer their advice.

Thanks for the quick response. Next time I'll do a little search prior (Newbie I guess).

I did research on all of those tires and in my opinion I will be going with the Goodyear tires, as they have the longest life out of all of them. Being that I worked on tires for 2 years in the past, I look for excellent tread ware, temp, traction when I purchase tires, as they are expensive and I have other things to do with my money instead of always buying tires. It also depends on your location and the type of driving that you are going to do. i did read one entry, where the member was going to go to 255 tires and I think that is what I am going to do also. just my opinion.

I love the Michelin PS-2's..although they're a summer tire, and expensive....they're a great match for the TL. They're quiet, responsive and predictable...well worth the price IMHO.

Based on tirerack it seems the Good Year Eagle F1 is the way to go. (they don't have any data on the Falken) But the only concern with the GY (since they are only about 1 year old) is how much mileage should I expect out of them? Based on some quick searches - I think I will decide between either the Good Year Eagle or the Falken's.

Can anyone reply with how many miles have been able to get out of the Good Year and Falkens?

On what do you base your opinion that the GY's have a long life?
The one thing I have been watching, as well as the performance, is tread life. I don't see where they have been out there long enough to make a comment like that. Maybe you know of some "research" that I would be very interested in reading.

OP had the Bridgestone EL-42s, so his wear was probably about average for those POS tires.

OP msujohn: I think some of the threads here on AZ mentioned that the Falkens tended to get noisy after 20K or so.
I have yet to hear anything bad about the F-1s other than some people had balancing issues with them when new. IDK if any of the regular posters has gone through a set of the F-1s yet, though.
I'd choose either the F-1s or Bridgestone Pole Positions.

Goodyear Response Edge

Anyone tried the GY Response Edge?

Looking at the GY site, you lose 1 point on traction and gain 2 points on noise.
