New coils on the 3G
So I just installed the Tein Basis on the 3G yesterday. Ran into a few hiccups with getting the old top hats off but nothing a grinder couldn't take care of. I was running the Tru Hart racing springs with a 2" drop all around. I was really hoping that those would suffice and I wouldn't need to go coils but once again the age old adage you get what you pay for came into play. The springs were absolutely terrible, it dropped the car an even 2" but the ride was bouncy and Most rodes that weren't smooth sounded like metal clanking on metal. It got so bad that once I decided to order the Basis I literally didn't drive the car for 2 weeks. I had ran K-Sports (1100.00) on my Element and I wasn't too impressed with those either. I bent the spanner wrenches several times and the rears felt like a bouncy school bus going over bumps. I know Tein has a great reputation and my buddy who previously owned a 3G with Function & Form coils told me don't do it. So working on a strict budget I got the Basis, my budget could have allowed me to get the Street but the extra hundred dollars I decided to fix my busted fog light from a high way nut from some random bolt. These coils are everything I heard about and then some. Tein has a customer for life!! Really good product, it's the little things that makes a difference. Spanner tools are thick and hefty unlike 99% of the others out there. So if you're thinking about getting the F&F's don't do it!! Tein is the way to go IMO, especially for that price!! I have it dropped all the way in the back, it's about 3" and a 2" drop in the front on stock wheels. I'm saving up to get some wheels and I've gotten a lot of good ideas from some of you guys on the forum.
