What are your priorities? Mileage / MPG? Performance? You mentioned longer life. Do you have a budget or price point you are working with?
Any please share anything else you feel is important vs just answering the questions asked.

Three Wheelin'
One of the best tires I've ever owned were Falken Ziex 512's.
Great in wet, dry, and light snow. Which is within your price range. I believe they are discontinued but can be found online.
Next would be the Continental DWS, I've gotten 45k miles out of them.
Only downside were the flat spots that would develop from the car sitting for a day or two. Which rounded off after tires warmed up...say...10-15 miles.
I'm now on a set of General GMAX AS 03. So far for comfort and driveability, Reviews online say they're great in the snow too. ( Guess I'll find out this season but I also have a set of snow tires )
Another set I had were the Hankook V2 Concept. I hated those tires.
They sucked in the rain.
Theres another brand of Hankook, S1 Noble, which is within your budget. Good reviews but I have no personal experience with them.

^^^DWS06 is the newer and improved model, but haven't been out too long and not sure if they fit the budget.
