245/45-17 Yokohama W4s-$115. Great all around tire with the widest tread available, but not much in heavy snow. The S.4 is a better tire, but over your budget.
Just checked the Tire Rack site and the BFG Traction T/A H rated are still on sale at $82.00 each. Can't beat that deal and the H rated will pose no problem for the TL. if you stay under @130MPH.

Corduroy, I am looking for long lasting, non-noisy tires. I don't mean to hijack your thread but did you hit 50k on your Falken 452? What don't you like about your OEM tires?

If anyone is able to hit 50k on Falken tires they have the biggest miracle in the history of tires. I have had Falkens twice, the ST-115 and Ziex 512 and both did not last 20k. I flat out call the brand a stinker.

I'm on my second set of Yokohama ADVAN S.4s and love them. They provide great dry and wet traction and are pretty quiet. I'm amazed how sticky they are especially when taking freeway loop onramps at speed. I'll admit..they do get noisier as they age (but don't all tires?). They are a bit above your price range though - $152 each at Tirerack. My philosophy with tires is never skimp on them since they're the only part of your car actually touching the road!

I agree with the posts above- DON"T skimp on tires. I had the Yoko- AVID 4WS, too noisy. Warranty exchange and went with the Mich Pilot A/S plus. So far so good. I understand high performance tires will make noise. I thought the eagle f1 were recalled.
Good luck.

I have the W4s and they are very quiet; the highways around here in Chicago suburbs
have asphalt replacing the super noisy concrete which makes a big difference too.
I have nothing but good things to say about these tires. If you think your tires are noisy
perhaps you have a bad wheel or the wheels aren't balanced properly. Others here have
said these tire are not so great in the winter; I never had any problems with them.
In the hot weather, they seem very sticky on the roads and handle off ramps with ease.

The AVID W4S's I had installed on my '05 automatic (the wife's) have been very much to her satisfaction in the noise department. And whenever I have driven her car, I agree.. they are fine. As I mentioned, their only downside is their flat spotting. We took her car on a 1200 mile trip in early May which covered super highways with both concrete and asphalt paving, secondary two-lanes, and city streets. The W4S's shined in all areas. She was most pleased.

Continental just released there replacement for contiextreme contact called conti extremecontact DWS. Just throwing this out there as a cheaper alternative. It really depends on what you want in a tire. Anything will probably be better then the oem .

I sure wish tire rack would start using a noise meter when they are testing out all these tires. Even if the tests are done on BMW's, we would have an idea how noisy each type of tire is assuming they test drive over the same course for their tests.
I really have a hard time believing any of the consumer reviews, especially the subjective categories

Actually my Michelin OEMs have hit 50k, not my Falkens. I have about 5k on my Falkens and about 50 on the Michelins so I'm roughly at 56k on my car right now. Just looking for a set of all seasons since the Falkens are summer tires.
