Need to make TL softer , PLEASE HELP Before i get Rid of this Stiff BOX :-)
Hi ,
i have acura TL 2004 , i have brand new NEXEN tires , but the rides is annoyingly stiff .
Did anybody had this issue?
If i switch tires to Michelin how much softer can it get and is it worth it ?
Thinking of switching to BMW 530i
thanks guys

It's pretty unusual that someone wants to soften their ride around here.
How many miles on the car? Suspension usually gets softer with age and with an '04, I'd think yours is "broken in". Any new suspension parts added/replaced recently - springs or shocks?
Any indication of broken suspension parts - leaking oil from the shocks, etc?
If it's not a "bad" tire/wheel size or suspension parts, maybe a Lexus ES is in order.

thanks guys
i called the dealership and they said to bring it for visual inspection , i will take it there and see what they say .
as for stiffness , i am not usually that sensitive to that , but mine has 48,000 miles , and everytime you go into a small bump on the road , it is like the whole cabin jumps , there is absolutely no abosorption for the shock .
and that make the ride very uncomfortable after few bumps like that .
I also noticed the Vibrations on the car is high , although the tires are balanced .
one last thing , when i go over a bump , i notice a very slight movement sideways before it stabilizes ,
does that happen to you or my suspension are probably gone ?

sounds like the toe is out on the car. Go to an acura dealer and get the tires aligned and balanced ONLY using HUNTER ROAD FORCE MACHINES. The TL is really sensitive to the machines used to balance tires, and the Hunter works like a charm. How many miles are on this 04? If you are over 55K, I think you may need your shocks changed. I read somewhere here that the shocks need to be replaced every 55K.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but Im experiencing some problems with my right wheel. Whenever I go over bumps I feel like the car doesnt absorb the bumps. At times I hear clunking sound. My girlfriend always sits in the passenger side. She says its sounds like something is loose. I thought it was a bad tire, due to me buying a used tire. I rotated the used tire to the back and I still hear the clunk sound. What do you guys think it might be? Do I need new shocks, suspension? alignment and rotation? BTW my car has around 55k

Shock, bushing, or swaybar mount/endlink.
It's rare for a shock to "blow out". They usually get softer over time.
You can see the swaybar mounts and endlinks without a jack if you really get under the car.
It can always be one of the bushings near the top had also.
Do you have an aftermarket rear swaybar?

Nope I have not lowered the car or anything. Still have my stock suspension . Im running on black chrome aspecs and continental dws tires.
Great that you guys wrote back, because I got rear ended yesterday by an armored money truck. He killed my rear bumper, trunk , lights etc. I told my body shop if they also include my suspension getting messed up due to the accident. If for whatever reason I can get that good look and get a new suspension, would that fix the problem that I'm having?
